Leading Large Scale Change – Strategies for Growing Academic Initiatives for Student Success: A Visit with Abby Parcell (MDC)
We gather across the college to talk with Abby Parcell as she shares some of the challenges faced, lessons learned, and effective practices in the development of meaningful, life-changing efforts that directly impact the lives of our students. She will be drawing on her work within the Achieving the Dream (AtD) initiative assisting community colleges in order to scale up effective practices. Abby will be sharing what she has learned about the effective use of evaluation methods to understand initiatives, document results, and to improve and scale-up effective practices related to the many initiatives across the college that directly impact student success. About Abby Parcell: She supports learning networks and contributes research and writing across a number of MDC projects, including Made in Durham, NC VetsCorps, and State of the South. She was a part of MDC’s Achieving the Dream team and continues to participate in MDC’s work with community colleges. As project director of the Developmental Education Initiative (2009-2013), she developed More to Most, a guidebook and accompanying workshop to help community colleges and community partnerships scale up effective practices.
