SessionDay Objectives:

  1. Introduce the class to changes taking place in the local and global media landscape;
  2. Understand the strengths and constraints of particular media in meeting specific communication goals for individuals and their organizations;
  3. Help class members become better-informed consumers of information so they can be more effective leaders in their businesses and the community;
  4. Introduce the class to professionals who will help them sharpen their personal communication skills;
  5. Explore how organizations can use the media to protect and promote their public image;
  6. Appreciate the diversity of media voice in TechValley and the perspectives they reflect.

Depending on the direction you are traveling (east or west on Madison Avenue) you will turn at the light between Main Street and Partridge Street. CCIM will be in front of you; turn left for parking. Please do not use the St. VincentDePaulChurch spaces.

From the East I-90

Take I-90 West to exit 6A to merge onto I-787 South; take Exit 3B (Rte 20 West/Madison Avenue). Travel on Madison Avenue for approximately 2.4 miles. After Partridge Street turn Left at the light (Huether School of Business, big white building will be on the corner) if you get to Main Street you’ve gone too far. CCIM will be directly in front of you; turn left for parking. Please do not use the St. VincentDePaulChurch spaces.

From the North

Take Northwaysouth to Western Avenue. At the lights turn Left onto Western Avenue. Continue on Western for approximately 3 miles; stay to right at Allen Street light to continue onto Madison Avenue. Turn Right at the second light after Allen Street. CCIM will be directly in front of you; turn left for parking. Please do not use the St. VincentDePaulChurch spaces.

From the West

Take I-90 E to exit 24. Pass through the toll booths; take exit 1 (as if you were going to the Crossgate Mall); continue south on the Northway to Western Avenue. Turn Left at the lights onto Western Avenue. Continue on Western for approximately 3 miles; stay to right at Allen Street light to continue onto Madison Avenue. Turn Right at the second light after Allen Street. CCIM will be directly in front of you; turn left for parking. Please do not use the St. Vincent DePaul Church spaces.
