Lawrence Township Tennis Association 2017 Scholarship Application
2017 Serving Aces Scholarship - $500
The Serving Aces Lawrence Township Tennis Scholarship was established by the Lawrence Township Tennis Association in December 2015 to reward young people with funding to advance their post high school educational interests. Each year, two (2) $500Serving Aces Lawrence Township Tennis Scholarshipswill be presented –
- one (1)to a senior tennis player from Lawrence North High school orLawrence Central High School who resides in Lawrence Township and participates on the high school tennis team.
- one (1)to a senior tennis player who resides in Lawrence Township and participates on a high school tennis team (maybe a senior from Lawrence North or Lawrence Central High school).
The Serving Aces Lawrence Township Tennis Scholarshipis designed to provide assistance to those who have shown ability, aptitude, and promise as students and as high school tennis players.
Requirements
Each applicant must:
Reside within Lawrence Township (Indiana);
Participate on the high school tennis team;
Be a high school senior;
Plan to attend an accredited college, university or other post-secondary education;
Currently attending Lawrence North or Lawrence Central High School (only for 1 of the 2 scholarships being awarded)
Submit a completed application packet.
Please note: If the award of the Serving Aces Lawrence Township Tennis Scholarship to an applicant would result in the reduction of the amount of an academic or athletic scholarship(s) awarded to the applicant by a college or university, then the applicant is ineligible to receive this scholarship. Applicants must verify that the receipt of the Serving Aces Lawrence Township Tennis Scholarship will not result in the reduction of any academic or athletic scholarship from their college or university.
Lawrence Township Tennis Association
The Lawrence Township Tennis Association is a 501c3 non-profit which was founded in 2011 by tennis enthusiasts in Lawrence Township. The mission of the Lawrence Township Tennis Association is "To encourage and promote tennis to all individuals regardless of age, gender, race or socio-economic status in Lawrence Township.”
Lawrence Township Tennis Association is dedicated to supporting youth and adult tennis programs in Lawrence, Indiana. Supporting activities include introductory youth and adult tennis programs, adult and junior tournaments, equipment loaner program for schools, school assemblies, training for physical education teachers, high school tennis team support, and support to any other tennis activities deemed to encourage healthy and active lifestyles through tennis participation within Lawrence Township.
Selection Committee
A committee appointed by the President of the Lawrence Township Tennis Association evaluates the applications for the Serving Aces Lawrence Township Tennis Scholarships. This committee includes members outside of the Lawrence Township Tennis Association Board of Directors, and will recommend the final candidates for approval by the entire Board. The selection will be made without regard to the applicant’s race, color, ethnic origin, religious belief, sexual orientation, or physical handicap.
The recipients of the scholarships are contacted by the President of the Lawrence Township Tennis Association. Each recipient of the Serving Aces Lawrence Township Tennis Scholarshipis recognized on the Lawrence Township Tennis Association websites as well as other social media.
Application Deadline
All completed applications and required additional documents must be postmarkedby May 1, 2017. Applications must be submitted on forms identified by the year in which the awards will be made.
