Minutes
May 28, 2008
The KACV-TV Advisory Council met on Wednesday, May28, 2008 at 4:00 pm. in the KACV-TV Conference Room at the GilvinBroadcastCenter on the Amarillo College Campus.
Advisory Council Members Present:Daniel Martinez, Bev Harris, Bill Quackenbush, Gerry McKay, Robert Forrester, John Harris, Alice Hyde, Ellen Green, Beverly Plank
KACV-TV Staff Present: Linda Pitner, General Manager; Jackie Smith, Operations Manager; Lynne Groom, Underwriting Coordinator; Megan Mackey, Development Resource Specialist
Called to Order:
Daniel Martinez, interim Council Chair, called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. and welcomed Council members and staff.
Review of February 13, 2008 Minutes:
Mr. Martinez asked for a review the minutes of the February 13, 2008 meeting and asked if there were any questions or changes. The Council accepted the minutes as presented.
KACV-TV Staffing Change
Manon Bradley has been hired as Outreach Coordinator. Megan Mackey has been hired as Development Resource Specialist. Megan was introduced to the group.
Nominating Committee Report and Recommendations
The nominating committee consisting of Daniel Martinez, Bev Harris, Leslie Cunningham and JoAnn Cruz-Perez met and recommendedthe following individuals to fill positions on the KACV-TV Advisory Council: Jane Stephens, DrewBergen, Gaynelle Riffe, Joseph Mares and Diane Hill. All current interim Council members and the recommended nominations will be presented to the Amarillo College Board of Regents in June for formal appointment to the Advisory Council.
KACV 20th Anniversary Plans
KACV Founders Picnic will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2008 from 5-7:00 p.m., which is the last day of the Fall Pledge Drive.Kathy Shelton has been hired to be the event planner. The Advisory Council will host the event.
PBS Showcase Conference Report
The PBS Showcase for 2008 was held May 12-15, 2008 in Palm DesertCalifornia. It was attended by Linda Pitner, Jackie Smith, Lynne Groom and Jill Frank. Linda reported on upcoming programming and PBS initiatives.
Digital Programming
Linda discussed the upcoming digital transition and the board viewed educational spots on the KACV website. Linda also discussed the situation at the KACV analog tower relating to the digital transition of KAMR and KCIT.

Daniel Martinez adjourned the meeting at 5:00 p.m.

The next KACV Advisory Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the conference room.
