PERSONAL SUMMARY

I was at my last employer (Deutsche Bank AG), for 5 years during which Irose steadily through the ranks thanks to my hard work, commitment and technical excellence. I am looking to forge an equally strong relationship with a solid company where I can once again demonstrate my skills and integrity.

I’m active in the Linux/Java world and keep abreast of new developments (search Google for “John Murga”).

I have just ended a 6 month sabbatical travellingthrough South America and Europe. During this time I also underwent teacher training to further improve my public speaking and mentoring skills.

PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Worked full time in IT mostly in a technical capacity since 1993. Fluent in Spanish.

Recent work focused around the use of the J2EE platform and in particular BEA and JBoss services abstracted through highly usable AJAX Uis (Web 2.0), capitalizing on the advantages of the platform through the use of JMS, JSP, Solaris and Linux. Fostered the use of open third party API’s like jUnit, Log4J, Struts and others where they provided a clear advantage. Designed, developed and managed several J2EE/AJAX solutions for a variety of environments within tight constraints and made every project a success. Delivered two of the most recent projects with outsourcing partners in India, tailoring working practices to challenging situations.

Have full knowledge and experience of the complete systems development life cycle (SDLC) from several perspectives, from initial design through to testing, implementation and signoff. Sought to increase own

ability to positively influence projects, this resulted in a drive to attain certification in a number of areas.

Very capable and personable individual who is able to fit in to any team environment and fulfill a variety of roles. I tend to gravitate towards techinical and mentoring roles as I avidly absorb and assimilate technical info and try to improve the environment around me. My prior exposure to several methodologies and environments also puts me in a good position to foresee future problems and caveats.

EMPLOYMENT RECORD (1/2)

06/2001 – 03/2003 Deutsche Bank (London, UK)
03/2003 – 06/2006Deutsche Bank (New York, USA)

Project Manager - Technical Architect / Team Lead

Joined Deutsche Bank (London) as a technical architect to create the iCroci system ( Devised ways of meeting posed technical challenges and decided what technologies would be appropriate after evaluating them in real-world scenarios. Chosen solution combined the best of what WebLogic, Oracle, Struts and other Jakarta APIs had to offer while using innovative techniques to consolidate data feeds.

Became involved in many Equities Research projects (based in the UK and US), and provided teams with anything from design skills to development expertise. Devised a development environment that could be easily installed on Windows workstations and that allowed developers to work seamlessly between Unix and Windows platforms while using standard Ant/shell scripts and automated deployment tools. This environment was devised at the start of 2002 is still in active use by DB teams and their offshore partners.

Transferred to the New York office in early 2003 so that the organization could take advantage of some of the expertise and relationships I had built up working with our offshore partners while in London. Cast in the role of project manager I was very successful at coordinating and delivering complex solutions to several regions on time and under budget (while consolidating the data from several localized feeds, such as “Thomson Financial”), eventuallysetting the standard for the use of distributed resources within DB.

Most business exposure was in the area of Equities Research, however, more recent projects provided some exposure to Emerging Markets - Fixed Income (Bonds), and Mortgage Backed Securities.
