Aim

  • Deliver theCrisisSharing Solutions project across England.
  • Developing eight Crisis-funded sharing schemes, providing each one with in-depth support and trouble-shooting.
  • Identify best practice and facilitate sharing this between schemes, as well as reporting and disseminating the findings to a wider audience.

Dimension

  • No formal budget management, but will be required to monitor the expenditure of those schemes they have responsibility for and assess against the allocated Crisis funding (c. £90,000 each) raising any issues with the Head of Private Renting and Housing.

Circumstances

  • 35 hours per week
  • Fixed term until 31 March 2015
  • This post is London-based. The post-holder will be required to travel frequently around the UK (primarily England) for project visits and some visits will require overnight stays. This will average out at one day per week. However, some of the visits are cyclical which might require more concentrated periods of travel to the projects.

  • £32,897 per annum

Principle Accountabilities

  • Take lead responsibility for supporting the development of eight Crisis-funded pilots on access to the private rented sector for sharers, providing consultancy, advice and guidance as appropriate
  • Communicate the project’s findings to both internal and external audiencesincluding producing specific documents and materials as appropriate
  • Identify and promote best practice translating the experience of individual schemes into relevant recommendations and advice for other agencies across the UK
  • Work closely with the Crisis policy and research teams to ensure that the experiences of the pilot sharer schemes are effectively integrated into Crisis’ wider work
  • Promote this work widely and deliver presentations on this work on a regular basis at events, conferences and meetings

General

  • Prioritise own workload and ensure timely delivery on all tasks
  • Contribute to and support Crisis PRS team and wider Crisis housing work
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Crisis’ work and the needs and circumstances of homeless people
  • Carry out any duties that may reasonably be required in light of the main purpose of the post

Person Specification

Essential

  1. Experience of developing access to the private rented sector for those in housing need, ideally for sharers
  2. Experience of supporting the development of new projects
  3. Excellent communicator with experience of both writing for external audiences and making compelling presentations
  4. Ability to draw conclusions and wider recommendations from specific practical experience
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and experience of successfully managing relationships with external contacts
  6. Ability to oversee a project from inception to conclusion
  7. Ability to work on own initiative, working under pressure and to tight deadlines
  8. Experience of organising events or meetings
  9. Good working knowledge of relevant software – Word, Excel, databases, web management systems
  10. Commitment to Crisis’s purpose and values including equality and social inclusion
