Purpose of the New Role:

Main Responsibilities / % time per year
1. / Carry out the project tasks and deliver the outcomes as outlined in the project plan. / 35%
2. / Manage the project and disseminate the findings to the project team. / 35%
3. / Undertake any training or development courses as deemed necessary. / 10%
4. / Write R&D reports, and present these at the Local Management Committee (LMC) meetings, as well as at national conferences and symposia with other members of the project team. / 10%
5. / Prepare research papers for publication in highly acclaimed learned journals, in line with the expected scholarly activities of the University Research Staff, but in accordance to the commercial sensitivity of collaborating companies / 5%
6. / Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post. / 5%

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential / Desirable
Qualifications/ Education / Good first degree (1st or 2.1) in a related field. Given the nature of the project this may include veterinary sciences, animal health biology or Bioscience.
Skills/Training / Computer and IT literate, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Experience / Technical capabilities for accurate recording of data, statistical analyses and reporting in verbal and written formats.
The ability to work within a livestock breeding environment in a rural location and environment.
Excellent project management skills and analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work with a range of people including managers, technical staff and clients / Some commercial experience would be preferably, particularly within an agricultural background.

i)taken independently by the role holder

Management of meetings, planning travel and training, planning consumables spend.

ii)taken in collaboration with others

Ordering equipment under £500, booking training courses, organising activities (visits to companies etc)

iii)referred to the appropriate line manager (please name) by the role holder

Changes to project work plan, changes to project budget, ordering equipment with value over £500 and arranging activities related to the project.
