Technical Officer Position – Wagga Wagga

AgXtra is the leading private agricultural research provider servicing South Australia and New South Wales. We conduct field evaluation and product development work in the form of efficacy, crop safety and plant breeding trials, and research project management. Work is conducted in the broadacre, viticultural and horticultural segments.

Due to a significant expansion in this business, AgXtra is seeking to appoint a Technical Officer to be based at our office in Wagga Wagga, NSW. The Technical Officer is a functional role within our existing research team, and will contribute to the effective and efficient planning, conduct and reporting of applied field research projects.

The Technical Officer will assist in ensuring the timely delivery of a high quality applied research program, as well as for the maintenance of a range of customer relationships. The Technical Officer will also be expected to interact with other members of our technical team, and provide leadership to casual staff.

As directed by AgXtra Management and Research Officers, your responsibilities will include:

·  Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company standards.

·  Maintain working relationships with clients, agricultural industry representatives and organisations, other researchers, growers and the AgXtra team.

·  Assist in the planning, conduct and coordination of research activities in key crops throughout your region.

·  Contribute to the maintenance of plant and equipment, as well as the application of best practice agronomy in research trials.

·  Contribute to the ongoing development of systems and procedures.

Required attributes:

·  A degree, or equivalent, in Agriculture is desirable, but not necessarily essential.

·  An understanding of field crop agronomy.

·  Good communication skills.

·  Planning and organising capabilities.

·  Competency in terms of computer literacy and data management.

·  Problem solving and time management skills.

·  Attention to detail.

·  Ability to participate in, and contribute to, team objectives.

·  A current Drivers License.
