Skills

To select a Vital Signs skill, move your mouse over a particular skill and then select (left mouse click) one of the choices that appear on the right side of that skill.

Pre-Test- The Pre-Test allows you to take a quiz in a particular skill area before going through the Learn it, See It, Do It, portion of that particular skill area. The quiz results will be recorded as a Pre-Test score in the Scores area of the software. This allows you to compare your Pre-Test to your Post-Test Scores.All test questions are multiple choice and you can take the test as many times as you like.

*Do not skip a question. You will not be able to go back and answer it once you select the next button.

Learn It- Learn It is a screen by screen display and description of a particular selected skill. You can toggle between the particular skill’s pages by selecting either the next or previous buttons at the bottom of the page.

See It-See It is an audio and, in some cases, video presentation of a selected skill. You will be guided through the entire skill.You must have a sound card and the computer’s speakers must be turned on to hear the audio portion of the See it presentation.

Do It- Do It allows you to practice a particular selected skill through interactive exercises.

Check Answer –Checks to see if you answered the question correctly. You must select Check Answer before moving to the next question.

Try Again- If you answer a question incorrectly, you have the option of trying again by selecting this button.

Show Answer- If you answer a question incorrectly, you have the option of displaying the correct answer by selecting this button.

Next - Brings you to the next question. This button only appears if you answered the question correctly or selected the Show Answer button first.

Checklist- Selectingthe Checklist button brings up a procedural checklist table to help ensure you have performed all procedures for the particular skill you are in. Since several procedures make up one skill, you can check off each procedure as you complete it.

Post-Test- The Post-Test allows you to take a quiz in a particular skill area after going through the Learn It, See It, Do It, portion of that particular skill area. The quiz results will be recorded as a Post-Test score in the Scores area of the program. This allows you to compare your Pre-Test to your Post-Test Scores.All test questions are multiple choice and you can take the test as many times as you like.

Case Studies

Case Studies allow you to practice and review the skills you have learned using the Learn It, See It, Do It, sections of the software. Here you will be assigned to take vital signs and measurements of individuals with different physical attributes.

Patient Chart-Selecting the Patient Chart button brings up a field where you can type inanyVital Sign information that you have performed on a particular Case Study patient. This will help you become more familiar with patient charts.

Checklist- Selectingthe Checklist button brings up a procedural checklist table to help ensure you have performed all procedures for the particular skill you are in. Since several procedures make up one skill, you can check off each procedure as you complete it.

Scores

The Scores area keeps a record of all the tests you have taken, the time you took them, and your scores. You will also have the option of reviewing any test by selecting the View Details link.

It is very important to note that when you log into the Vital Signs program, you use the same name each time to keep an accurate log of your tests and scores. Different names should only be used if more than one individual is using the program.

View Details- Here you will find a table which lists each question in the test, whether you answered the question correctly or not, as well as the correct answer if you did not.

Print- The print button allows you to make a hard copy report of the tests you have taken. These reports include the quiz name, time it was taken, as well as your score. The print option is also available in the View Details screen.

Exit

Clicking the Exit button will close the Vital Signs software. You can exit the Vital Signs program at any time.

* If you exit the program while taking any test, the score will not be recorded and you will have to restart the test at a later time.
