Summary:

The Refugee Development Center (RDC) is seeking a Development Generalist to grow and advance philanthropic giving and corporate partnerships. This position requires a commitment to the RDC’s mission of welcoming and educating newcomers, as well as superior oral/written communication skills and external networking capabilities. Candidates must be self-starters and have an entrepreneurial spirit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the RDC’s annual fundraising plan
  • Create and refine fundraising and outreach materials for distribution
  • Through multiple channels (direct mail, email, e-bulletins, social media, donor events etc.) secure financial support from individuals, corporations, and other stakeholders (faith & educational community, entrenched immigrant groups/individuals, etc.). Coordinate and participate in meetings with prospective and current sponsors/donors
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current donors to improve retention and promote engagement while also growing the base of new donors
  • Track, analyze, evaluate,and report on the effectiveness of campaigns. Refine strategies as needed to meet goals
  • Organize and execute planning for special events and subsequent follow up
  • Develop strategies to target new sponsors for the annual RDC fundraiser and other special programs. When appropriate, secure multi-year relationships/sponsorships
  • Produce acknowledgement letters and pledge reminders; create and maintain accurate donor records in database and produce reports
  • Work in coordination with RDC grant writing efforts and support grant writing as needed (note: the primary focus of this position is unrestricted fund procurement through donations and other philanthropic giving).

Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. required; development or related experience also required, nonprofit experience highly desirable
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences and stakeholders. Desire to engage and serve diverse ethnic communities of multiple national origins
  • Goal and detail-oriented, highly-organized, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial
  • Willingness to take the initiative to learn and grow in the position which includes but is not limited to developing the hard and soft skills necessary to advance RDC development goals and stakeholder engagement
  • Highly proficient in Word, Excel, Wordpress, data tracking software, and computer graphic programs for marketing materials
  • A person invigorated by a non-traditional work environment with a close-knit, team-oriented staff and leadership
  • Positive, calm and diplomatic individual with integrity, professional discretion, etiquette and a generous spirit
