As Programme Manager you will be responsible for the following key tasks:

TEACHING, LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT

  1. Deliver high quality teaching instruction and assessment
  2. Prepare schemes of work, delivery plans, lesson plans, assessment plans and risk assessments to ensure a variety of teaching and assessing methods are adopted
  3. Support learners to achieve their full potential
  4. Provide subject and pastoral support to learners
  5. Assess learners’ learning support needs and maximise the benefits of learning support interventions
  6. Ensure the learning experience is varied, enjoyable and achieves all learning goals
  7. Track and regularly report on learner progress for all qualification aims
  8. Report absences and monitor student attendance
  9. Administer examinations, assignments and other assessments as necessary
  10. Carry out internal verification of assessment activity according to Curriculum needs
  11. Supervise learners’ conduct and comply with health and safety procedures ensuring the welfare of the learners under your care
  12. Be alert to and report all safeguarding matters including any suspicions’ or concerns; if in doubt share information

GENERAL

  1. Attend and undertake associated and relevant training.
  2. Participate in the College performance appraisal review scheme
  3. Ensure health and safety policies and regulations are adhered to by all staff and students
  4. Work to promote and contribute to the College’s Equal Opportunities policies
  5. Contribute and promote safeguarding at all times, to ensure the safety and security of children, young people and vulnerable adults
  6. Comply with the College Safeguarding Policy and procedure in addition to the safeguarding responsibilities within the scope of the role
  7. Provide cover for absent colleagues as necessary to ensure timetabled classes are facilitated at all times
  8. Participate in the College’s observation of teaching, learning and assessment scheme (OTLA)
  9. Maintain effective and professional relationships with colleagues, parents, employers and other stakeholders
  10. Participate in college events for example parent’s evenings, information events, open days, school careers’ events, awards ceremonies and employer engagement meetings

PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT

  1. Co-ordinate the activity of your teaching team, organising communications and team meetings, ensuring all members including customer advisors, the maths and English teamand support staff, participate in curriculum planning and development
  2. Participate in learner recruitment and conduct student interviews ensuring “the right learner on the right programme”
  3. Fully engage with college activity designed to capture the “learner voice” for example, focus groups, questionnaires and student union
  4. Maintain Learning Assistant, programme files and other apprenticeship records
  5. For all qualification aims, including maths and English, liaise with Customer Advisors to register learners with awarding bodies, use tracking systems to record and monitor learner progress and claim certification in a timely manner
  6. Working with your team lead and customer advisorset and monitor attendance and timely achievement rate targets
  7. Organise taster, advice mornings, open days and learner inductions as necessary
  8. Ensure examination, assessment & internal verification planning is effective
  9. Support Team Leads with the preparation and proof reading of public information for example prospectuses, college web site and other promotional literature
  10. Prepare and monitor a course delivery plan to ensure all aspects of the “every child matters” agenda is fully embedded in to the course curriculum
  11. Support the Team Lead with course review procedures are implemented to improve the learning experience for existing and future cohorts of learners
  12. Ensure “personal evacuation and emergency plans” (PEEPS) are completed
  13. Liaise with Customer Advisors to ensurehealth and safety procurement standards (HASPS) documents are completed as necessary

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Relevant vocational qualification at Level 3 or higher
  • Level 2 Maths and English

Must have or be prepared to work towards relevant

  • First Aid
  • Instructor or teaching qualification
  • MIDAS minibus qualification
  • Suitable health and safety qualification

Experience

  • Considerable knowledge of the relevant industry with at least 5 years’ industry experience
  • Computer literate and will be expected to communicate through a wide range of communication technologies

  • High level of interpersonal skills particularly the ability to communicate effectively
  • An enthusiasm for the subject that will captivate learners
  • Demonstrate a high level of self-motivation, and an ability to achieve outcomes with limited supervision
  • Be able to work as part of a diverse team
  • Flexibility, adaptability and a willingness to embrace processes of change and development.

Other duties and responsibilities:

  • Hold a current full driving licence
  • Drive minibuses
  • Occasional evening and weekend work will be required
  • First aider
