Job Description for Forest School Association Development Officer

This post will be responsible to the board of directors for the newly formed Forest School Association (FSA) and will be responsible for implementing the business plan, based on the10 objectives outlined in the FSA constitution. The post will be for a year with anticipation to raise enough funds to extend the contract. The post will be responsible for helping establish and develop the organisation.

In order to achieve the above the post will;

  • Promote the FSA, its objectives and benefits of membership and communicate FSA activity to the wider FS and education
  • Project manage the setting up of a website that will incorporate

central point of contact regarding information about Forest School (FS) in the UK

membership services including sharing practise,

the main signposting service for the UK regarding FS activity, training around the UK and research

to manage the website once established

  • Develop the business plan and pursue funding streams for the FSA
  • Liaise with FSA working groups
  • Research and pursue funding grants for FS practise across the country
  • Liaise with the key partners involved with FS including FEN, FEI and the FS networks across the UK in order to meet the needs of FS practitioners across the UK
  • Establish and support local networks and groups of FS practitioners
  • Support the development of a database of membership and FS interested parties/individuals with the FSA office
  • Support the organisation of a national annual FS conference and other events related to FS
  • Explore mechanisms for FSA to ensure quality FS training delivery and recognise good practise in FS
  • The post will be expected to produce regular progress reports for the FSA executive and board of directors
  • Any other duties as expected from the FSA exec

Job Conditions

The person will be expected to work from their own office base and work in conjunction with the administrative base for the FSA at Warwick Business park with the IOL. Much of the job will involve travelling around the country and communicating by electronic media to consult and work with people. Line management of the job will fall under the direction of the executive working group of FSA directors.

The contract will run for one year working for 100 days in the year

Salary; £15000 (negotiation can be carried out with self employed people)

Budget; £5000 to cover all expenses including office, laptop, travel and any other expenses incurred
