JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose / Main Tasks / Overall Summary

The post holder will report to theHead Office Facilities Manager and be responsible for the security arrangements for the Unison Centre including the shared parts with the Residential Units and the Gallery. The Post holder will be responsible for ensuring that only authorised visitors access the building. The post holder will ensure that the building security and fire detection alarm systems are fully operational. The Post Holder will work with the Reception Staff to ensure access to the building is properly managed and visitors are received and dealt with.The Post Holder will have an active role in the Health and Safety management of the building including the weekly Fire Alarm test. The Post Holder will support the Facilities Management Team with large events and meetings.

You will be required to work on a two shift rota with occasional late evening and weekend working.

Managerial

To supervise the Security Team including all staff issues such as regular one-to-one meetings, sickness absence monitoring and leave arrangements.

To co-ordinate all contact with emergency service providers in the event of a serious / major incident.

To liaise with external contractors regarding the Fire System and Access and Security Systems.

To place call outs with service providers for emergency repairs, for example Lift breakdowns, door access systems etc.

To ensure the security of the building is maintained at all times and to make sure that only authorised visitors access the building.

To work with Reception and Facilities Management to supervise the smooth operation of meetings and events.

To oversee security arrangements for the Gallery and Residential areas.

To act as Keyholder for the building and to work with external keyholding service providers.

Administrative / Financial

To manage the security procedures including floor plans.

To ensure daily security checks are properly carried out and recorded.

To ensure contractors paperwork are completed and signed.

To manage staffing levels including rotas and weekend working arrangements.

Communication / Co-ordination

To manage/supervise external contractors of alarm system including keyholding service.

To work with Reception Staff and provide support and cover as required.

To work with Facilities Management on all Health and Safety matters.

To work with Building Services Engineer as required.
