HIGH SCHOOL: IOWA TEST OF EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (ITED)—

APRIL 30 AND MAY 1, 2008

Agape Family Schools will be conducting standardized testing for students in grades 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11. Taking this test fulfills the testing requirement in the Colorado home school law. Your registration form is at the bottom of this page. Please follow all instructions on this sheet and put the following dates on your calendar:

PRACTICE TEST DATE:Tuesday, April 15

Time: 1:00-2:30 PM (please arrive promptly—a parent is encouraged to attend,

especially if his or her student is in the third grade.)

Location: The Ranch at the LarimerCounty Fairgrounds, 4-H Building

TESTING DATES:Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday April 29, 30 and May 1for grades 3-7

Wednesday and Thursday, April 30 and May 1 for grades 9-11

Time: 9 AM – NOON (Arrive by 8:45 AM, please)

Location: The Ranch at the LarimerCounty Fairgrounds, 4-H Building

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:TUESDAY, APRIL 1, 2008

REGISTRATION FEE:For Agape members: $21.00 per student for those taking the practice test

$20.00 per student for those NOT taking the practice test

For non-Agape members:$56.00 per student for those taking the practice test

$55.00 per student for those NOT taking the practice test

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Fill out the bottom portion of this form completely. Keep the top portion for reference and note the supply list and further details about testing on the back of the page.
  1. This ITBS/ITED is offered to members of Agape Family Schools and to non-Agape members.
  1. Send your completed form, your check, and a self-addressed, stamped, legal-sized envelope for each student to be tested to the address below. Use the following checklist:

  1. Test scores will be mailed to parents. Riverside Publishers, which is the publisher of the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, will perform scoring. Riverside has estimated that we should receive our test scores back within 3-4 weeks. Our goal is to have your test scores in your hands before the June CHEC conference.
  1. Unfortunately, allowances cannot be made for absences due to vacations or for forgetting to attend. Make-up tests for illness only will be made the week after the testing date at the convenience of the teachers administering the tests.

COST—The cost of registration for the test, including scoring, is $21.00 per student for students taking the practice test and $20.00 per student for those not taking the practice test if you are currently a member of Agape. For non-Agape membersthe cost is$56.00 per student for those taking practice test and $55.00 per student for those not taking the practice test.

TESTS and GRADES TESTED—The Iowa Test of Educational Development (ITED), Form A, is offered for grades 9 and 11 only. Agape can accommodate up to 25 students in grade 9, and up to 6 students in grade 11. The Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS), Form A, is offered for grades 3, 5, and 7. Up to 25 students can be tested in each of grades 3, 5, and 7. The complete battery of tests is given, including social studies and science subtests.

PRACTICE TEST—The practice test is offered on Tuesday, April 15 to students in grades 3-7 who have never taken a standardized test before. The practice test is a third grade level test. The students will familiarize themselves with the test format and the areas of testing. They will also solve sample test questions and learn how to mark the answer sheet. A parent is encouraged to attend, especially if his or her student is in the third grade.

DATES—Students in grades 3-7 test on April 29, 30 and May 1. Students in grades 9-11 test on April 30 and May 1 only.

PARTICIPATION/COOPERATION—Each family is expected to help with the testing process, either on a committee to plan testing, as a certified teacher to administer the tests, as a teacher’s aide during the testing sessions, providing childcare for those helping, or as a set-up or clean-up helper before and after the sessions.

CERTIFIED TEACHERS—Agape is required to use only teachers with a current Colorado certification. If the required number of teachers cannot be found, Agape will not offer testing or will offer limited testing.

REGISTRATION—Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning with your receipt of this newsletter. Registration deadline is April 1, and payment must be included with registration.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR TEST SCORES—Agape mails scores only to parents or guardians. It is each family’s responsibility to make sure that their children’s test scores are distributed to the proper agencies for accountability. Our goal is to have your scores mailed to you before the June CHEC conference.
