INTERN – ENERGY EFFICIENCY - TWO POSITIONS

The NC Clean Energy Technology Center’s Clean Power & Industrial Energy (CPIE)program offers an exciting opportunity for students to gain first hand exposure to industrial and commercial sector’senergy programs. We provide an objective, technology-neutral and data-driven analysis detailing opportunities for energy efficiency and the incorporation of renewable energy and co-generation, where applicable.

CPIE Technical Services Intern -

This position will have an opportunity to attend field audits, meetings, conferences etc. and learn first-hand about energy services sector.Interns can expect work assignments concerning an array of energy related issues, such as energy efficiency analysis, implementation of energy efficiency programs and renewable technologies.

Interns will have a mix of substantive and administrative responsibilities, and may perform a wide array of tasks including:

  • Proofreadbriefs, memoranda, and correspondence
  • Gathering and analyzing data
  • Assisting with research projects
  • Assisting staff members with program-related tasks
  • Working on communication and outreach

CPIE Outreach & Development Intern –

This position involves creating strategies to reach our prospective clients through outreach, marketing and networking opportunities. There may also be research opportunities to help strategize on various grant-funded programs that our team is leading; including policy research specific to industrial and commercial clients on energy project implementation.

Interns will have a chance to:

  • Research, understand and communicate incentives and Renewable Portfolio Standard parameters specific to energy efficiency
  • Maintain and improve the CPIE web pages
  • Assist with social media posts and strategies
  • Create and or edit existing marketing and outreach materials for optimal effectiveness
  • Research opportunities to speak at relevant conferences and / or attend based on objectives communicated by the team
  • Attend meetings with state regulators, university energy groups and clients, when feasible
  • Interaction with partners in the energy space,

All interested students are encouraged to apply. Strong academic credentials are preferred. Internships are available both during the summer and for semesters during the school year. Although we can be flexible on dates to accommodate academic schedules, we require interns to work a minimum of 10 hrs./week. Intern Eligibility Requirements

  • Be an individual who is enrolled in NCSU
  • Secure the institution’s permission to participate
  • Have earned at least 24 semester hours (39 quarter credit hours) in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and communication fields
