GENERAL INFORMATION

1.Organization:

The 1st Pan American Judo Veterans Championship 2011 is anofficial event of the Pan American Judo Confederation, promoted by the Brazilian Judo Confederation and organized by the Rio Grande do Sul State Judo Federation.

4.Eligibility:

  • Minimum age: 30 years old completed in 2011 (born in 1981).
  • Hold a current and valid license (membership) issued by a National Federation affiliated to the International Judo Federation.
  • Pay the appropriated entry fees.
  • Provide photographic proof of identity using valid and current passport.

5.Nationality

Proof of identity: passport from the country and the IJF accreditation card. If a competitor has more than one nationality such competitor can only represent one country and thereafter may not represent any other country until a period of one (1) year. If the two involved federations want they can ask the IJF to reduce or even to suppress this delay in conformity with the Sport and Organization Rules of the IJF.

6.Insurance

Participants themselves, competitors and team officials, must assume all responsibility for accident and health insurance as well as the civil liabilities (third party cover). They must have insurance either held personally in the form of specific insurance cover or travel cover (that does not exclude participating in judo competition) or as part of their National Federation insurance arrangements. Neither IJF, PJC or CBJ nor any third partyaccept liability for any claims of illness, injury or death.

7.Transportation

There will be no travel service from the organizer.

8.Entry fees:

The competitors themselves will be required to pay the entry fees of $100.00 during the accreditation.

14.Competition System

ROUND ROBIN (up to 4 competitors).

SIMPLE ELIMINATION WITH DOUBLE CROSS OVER REPECHAGE (more than 4 competitors).

Important Notes: For Round Robin competition the following rules will be applied:

If there is a tie the following criteria will be used to determine the place winners:

1. Number of wins;

2. Number of points;

3. Winner of head to head competition.

If the tie still remains the athletes will compete again using golden score criteria.

Point values are: ippon= 10, Waza-ari= 7, Yuko= 5, Decision= 1.

15.Medals

Medals will be awarded for first, second and third places.

Divisions with only four (4) competitors:

Medals will be awarded for all competitors, 1gold, 1 silver and 2 bronzes (even if a competitor does not win any match).

Divisions with less than four (4) competitors:

Awards will be made as follows:

One Competitor – Gold

Two Competitors – Gold and Silver

Three Competitors – Gold, Silver and Bronze

16.Weigh-in

The weigh-in will take place on Thursday September 22nd, from 9:00 – 17:00 for ALL categories concerned. Scales for unofficial weight control will be available throughout the Championships. For exact location of weigh-ins see notice at Registration.
Each competitor will bring to the weigh-in his or her accreditation card issued at Registration and passport. Competitors presenting themselves after the closing of the weigh-in cannot participate in the competition.
There will be no tolerance to the weight categories – the competitor that exceeds the weight in of the original subscription will have the option to change to the next weight category above.

17.Draw

The draw will take place at 19:00 on Thursday September 22nd. The exact location of the draw will be posted at the registration. Before the draw the list of competitors of each category will be hung in the draw room /in the corridor outside the draw room at least 30 min prior to the starting of the draw. Officials of each delegation should check if all registered athletes are listed. No corrections can be done after the draw.

Information on the exact location of the Individual and Team Draws will be displayed at Registration.

18.Judogi

The white and blue judogi are mandatory and competitors must have both types.

19.Particular rules for women competitors.

The women competitor must wear a white non-transparent t-shirt. The bra must not have any hard pieces. Long hair has to be bound with an elastic band. Make-up and jewelry are prohibited. The nails have to be cut short.

20.Anti-doping

There will be no anti-doping control.

21.Category Combining

A Technical Official from the PJC will delegate responsibility to a suitable individual who represents the Host Organization in order to operate the Category Combining policy. This policy applies only to individual competitors.

Only weight categories with three or less entries may be subject to combining.

Age divisions: competitors may only be combined with other competitors who are no more than one age division higher or one age division lower.

Weight categories: competitors may only be combined with other competitors who are no more than one weight category lighter or one weight category heavier.

22.Open Competition:

At the end of age categories the open category competition will occur. After the organization announce the interested competitors in participating will have 30 minutes to do the subscription. Immediately after that we will have the draw and the beginning of the fights.

In all category of age we will have the open category, if there are the minimum of 4 competitors in male category or 3 competitors in female category.

In the case of there isn´t sufficient number of competitors he/shemay only be combined with other competitors who are no more than one age division lower.

RULES OF TEAM COMPETITION

23.Weight categories and Age Divisions (Team events)

The three male team classifications will be:

TM1 (M1 and M2) - Male team of 5 players - 66kg, - 73kg, - 81kg, - 90kg and Open weight.

TM3 (M3 and M4) - Male team of 5 players - 66kg, - 73kg, - 81kg, - 90kg and Open weight.

TM5 (M5 and over) - Male team of 3 players aged 60 years and over – 73kg, - 90kg and Open weight.

Female teams of 3 players (all teams) – - 57kg, -70kg and Open weight.

The two team classifications will be:

TF1 (F1 and over)

TF3 (F3 and over).

24.Team format.

Teams must complete a Team Entry Sheet which will be available from Registration throughout the Competition, complete with full names and appropriate weight category details of all team’s members and reserves, sign and return this Entry Sheet to Registration no later than 12:00 hours of Friday to female teams, and Saturday to male teams.

Once a team sheet is formally submitted to Registration it cannot be altered nor can additional competitors be added.

All team members and reserves are required to have their current passports or current National I.D. Cards available on the mat for the final identification by the referees of individual players before participating in teams.

Individuals may compete on one team only in this championship.

Individuals from an older age divisions may compete on a team at a younger age division.

Individuals from a lower weight category may compete on a team at a higher weight category.

The National Judo Federation can enter with a maximum of two teams. (Team A and B)

Team match results will be determined by the most individual contests won. All individual contests must be decided if required by the use of the Golden Score (maximum one minute in team matches).

All man teams must have a minimum of 3 players on the mat for the first match at the start of the team event in order to be a valid entry.

Proper IJF bowing and mat protocol must be used in team events.

In consideration of the acceptance of the entry to compete in and/or my being permitted to participate in the 1st Pan American Judo Veterans Championship 2011 (hereinafter referred to as "this event"), I hereby release, remise and forever discharge, and agree to indemnify and save harmless the IJF/PJC, the Brazilian Judo Confederation and the Rio Grande do Sul State Judo Federation, the organizers of this event, their respective officers, executives, directors, officials, agents, servants and representatives (hereinafter referred to as "the releases") from and against all claims, actions, costs, expenses and demands in respect of death, injury, loss or damage to my person or property, howsoever caused, arising out of or in connection with my competing or participating in this event and notwithstanding that the same may have been caused by, contributed to or occasioned by the negligence, breach of contract, breach of a common duty of care as an occupier of premises, or otherwise, of or by the releases or any of them.

I am in good physical condition and I have no injury, disease or disability nor have I injected or ingested anything that would impair my performance or physical condition or increase the likelihood of injury in competing or participating in this event.

No physician, nurse, therapist, trainer, coach, manager or other person has advised me not to compete or participate in a body contact sport or in this event.

I am familiar with the sport of judo and the nature of a judo contest. I am aware that there is a high risk of injury by the very nature of the sport.

I further agree that the organization has the right to use, in such form plus for such time period as this organization may in its sole discretion choose, without payment of any fee or charge, the photographs, images, likeness, video tapes or any other recordings or reproductions of me, to further the objectives of Judo Canada, including without limiting the generality of the foregoing:
