Aecon Utility Engineering “AUE”, a division of Aecon Construction Group Inc. is a dynamic entity offering a range of services to both internal and external clients. Their services include design, quality management services, project management, construction supervision and contract administration of utilities projects varying in size, scope, location and complexity. Our business has expanded and we are now serving clients throughout Alberta and Western Canada.

We are currently looking for a Structural Engineer to expand our services to our clients. Working from our Toronto office and reporting to the Director, Telecommunications, the incumbent will be responsible for all facets of structural design for our existing and perspective Utility clients.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

·  Strong experience in structural design

·  Typical design assignments would include the design of below grade utility vaults and chambers, tunnel design, concrete foundations for various types of structures (tanks, poles, towers, pipe racks, cable trays), and temporary support works

·  The incumbent will lead AUE’s power pole loading analysis and design projects. Familiarity with pertinent CSA Standards on “Overhead Systems” (CSA C22.3 No. 1-01) and “Underground Systems” (CSA C22.3 No. 7-10) and ESA safety requirements pertaining to Section 4 of Ontario Regulation 22/04 would be an asset

·  Demonstrated Project Management capabilities and experience on projects shall be considered an asset

·  Technical knowledge of concrete, structural steel and timber design

·  Design experience with the Ontario Building Code

·  Generate and oversee the growth of new business while developing and maintaining effective relationships

·  Strong presentation skills, both written and oral, are considered a requirement

·  Strong computer skills required

·  Ability to travel for projects

Knowledge and Skills

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).

·  Registration as a Professional Engineer with the A.P.E.O.
