  • Parents are welcome to stop by the gym on Market Day (Dec. 15th) to view the businesses between approximately 9:40 and 10:30. You may not come earlier as we do not want visitors until the students have set up on their own and are comfortable. If you do come earlier, we will ask you to wait in the hallway.(If you come after 10:30, many kids are selling out…the best time to come is between 9:40 and 10:30).
  • Parents (or grandparents…) who stop by will be given some Bubble Bucks to spend by Ms. Flanagan. Please spend it at businesses with lots of items left or few customers. Please leave the more popular products for the fourth grade shoppers to buy.
  • There will be several shopping sessions. Round 1- Group A- 9:40-10:00; Group B-10:00-10:20; Group C -10:20-10:40 Round 2 (leftover products-many kids sell out and have nothing available the 2nd round) Group C-10:40-10:55; Group B-10:55-11:10; Group A 11:10-11:25. Clean Up- out of gym 11:25-11:40 (lunch set up by Mr. Valter starts at 11:40)
  • Most children will have leftover money after Market Day. It’s unavoidable. The goal is for the kids to experience a Market Economy, earn money by producing a business, and spend money as a consumer.
  • We will have an Economic Celebration at the end of the unit. There will be small prizes (think pencils, books, art items, small toys….). The children will choose from the prize selection according to the amount of money they have left over after Market Day. They should count their remaining money before Wednesday, Dec. 17th. We will have a snack, some economic games and perhaps a short movie at the celebration.
