Dean’s Office

Student Services – Undergraduate
The Student Services Centre is the “first port of call” for undergraduate students in the School. The Centre manages all the administration for all aspects of the student life cycle from the point of admissions, to registration and then through to graduation for all undergraduate programmes across the School.
UG students should be directed to the Undergraduate Student Services Centre in the first instance for all enquiries. The team is also well linked to support services both within and outside the School and can direct students on to these sources of help.

Student Services – Postgraduate
This team is dedicated to the School’s postgraduate taught programmes and provides the focus for postgraduate activities for the School as a whole from the point of registration to graduation.
Normally all PGT students should be directed to the postgraduate team (in Xfi) for all enquiries. However, for 2009/10, because of the growth in PGT numbers, for October we are directing ALL students, UG and PGT, to the Student Services Centre (Streatham Court) for initial queries.
The team is also well linked to support services both within and outside the School and can direct students on to these sources of help.

Student Services – Employability
The Employability Team works on promoting and enhancing employability. They develop close links with employers; liaise with employers regarding programme design and development to ensure that programmes and modules equip students with skills that employers value most highly; coordinate work placements; arrange careers events; and ensure that students are able to take full advantage of the careers and employability advice and guidance available at the University. It also is responsible for advising and supporting students preparing for, during, and after, work placements (particularly those on the 4 year ‘with Industrial Experience’ pathways..

Student Services – International Office
This is a new team and the roles and functions are being developed. The team will have responsibility for developing and managing strategic relationships with the School's growing network of international partners for student exchanges, faculty mobility and joint research and programmes; planning activities that ensure an international dimension to the student experience at home in Exeter, and providing full support to incoming and outgoing students in relation to European and International exchanges (the WES and WIS pathways).

Finance and Resources
The team are responsible for all aspects of School finance including budgets and budget monitoring, research costing and monitoring, requisitions, purchasing, invoicing (sales and purchase), expenses, claims and relocation payments etc; telephone call charging; inter-library loan tokens and petty cash.
Additionally, The Finance Team can be contacted for placing stationery orders. These should be for specific, non general items (i.e. specialist folders, files etc., staff/student kitchen supplies). Requests should be sent to their generic email address as below.
Research Support
All research grant proposals and costings are supported by this team. The team will liaise with outside School contacts and ensure that internal and external costings are completed to School standards. It is essential that academic colleagues keep the support team informed about their grants so that we maintain robust and up to date budget forecasting.
The team works closely with the Research and Knowledge Transfer (RKT) office, the University Research Accounting team and other internal and external parties, including the research councils and other sponsors. The RKT team provides the first point of contact for all information regarding the University's research and knowledge transferactivities. It manages the University’s RKT strategy and linked investments such as the science strategy. It also coordinates links with business and key project partners.

Finance and Resources - Departmental Secretaries
Each department has a dedicated secretary. These staff act as the ‘first port of call’ for most routine queries from academic staff in their department. The primary purpose of these post holders is to ensure that administrative arrangements and procedures are in place to support the Head of Department.
They are also responsible for the photocopiers located within the School’s departments. These include:
