Call for Expression of Interest
Medical Council of New South Wales
Expressions of interest are being sought from suitably qualified and experienced nominees for appointment to the Medical Council of NSW.
The primary responsibility of the Council is to protect the public by managing complaints and notifications about the health, performance and conduct of registered medical practitioners practising in NSW in conjunction with the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC).
Each council member is expected to actively contribute to the effective governance and oversight of the Council and its role in regulating registered health practitioners in NSW and to reflect the interests of the community in doing so. The ability to identify and articulate community expectations of medical practitioners is critical to the effective functioning of the Council.
Applicants are sought for the following position for appointment from 1 July 2017.
1xCommunity member
Council members are nominated by the Minister for Health for appointment by the Governor of NSW for a term of up to three years.
Applicants are required to complete the Expression of Interest form [hyperlink] and submit it with a brief statement addressing each of the selection criteria and an up to date curriculum vitae (CV) (maximum of 5 pages).

Nursing and Midwifery Council of New South Wales
Expressions of interest are being sought from suitably qualified and experienced nominees for appointment to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of NSW.
The primary responsibility of the Councils is to protect the public by managing complaints and notifications about the health, performance and conduct of registered nurses and midwives practising in NSW. Regulation is managed through co-regulation with the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC).
Council members are expected to actively contribute to the effective governance and oversight of the Council and its role in regulating registered health practitioners in NSW and to represent the interests of consumers of health services and the community.

Chairs of Professional Standards Committees
Expressions of interest are being sought from lawyers who are suitably qualified and experienced nominees for appointment as Chairpersons of Professional Standards Committees established by the Medical Council and the Nursing Midwifery Council.
The primary responsibility of the Councils is to protect the public by managing complaints and notifications about the health, performance and conduct of registered health professionals practising in NSW. Regulation is managed through co-regulation with the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC).
Chairpersons are periodically appointed by the relevant Council to a specific Professional Standards Committee established to hear a specific complaint. Applicants must be able and prepared to chair Professional Standards Committees for both Councils.
