In order to take advantage of this resource, shared science resource folders have been created for each grade level for the North Kitsap School District, and subfolders within each grade level by Science EALR and Domain. Please read on for directions to help you fully utilize this great classroom tool.

WHAT IS DISCOVERY EDUCATION? Discovery Education is an online resource that offers a breadth and depth of digital media content that is immersive, engaging and brings the world into the classroom to give every student a chance to experience fascinating people, places, and events. All content is aligned to state standards, can be aligned to custom curriculum, and supports classroom instruction regardless of the technology platform.

HOW DO I ACCESS DISCOVERY EDUCATION?

If you had a DE account with NKSD previous to September 2014: Go to: www.discoveryeducation.com . Once there, log in using your previous DE username and password. (If you forgot your username and password click on “Forgot username/password?” next to the log in windows.)

If you did not have a DE account with NKSD previous to September 2014: Once you are loaded into our NKSD District electronic network as a new staff member, you will be able to log in to DE with your District log in information. Please contact our District Technology Department if you need support.

HOW DO I ACCESS THE NORTH KITSAP SCHOOL DISTRICT SHARED ELEMENTARY SCIENCE FOLDERS? Log in and go to: My Content, District Content, District Content folder, Science folder, choose the grade level folder and then science standard folder you need.

WHAT IF I HAVE A GREAT DISCOVERY EDUCATION SCIENCE RESOURCE THAT I’D LIKE TO SHARE? Once you’ve accessed a resource that aligns with a grade level and science standard that you’d like to use again or share, you can save it to the District Content folder to be accessed by all! Click on the down arrow icon (options), then Add to My Content and select a destination to save, then click Add. Next, go to, My Content and locate the resource you just saved. Click on Actions, Move/Copy, District Content tab, District Content saved folder, District Content folder, Science folder, Grade Level folder, EALR folder, Copy.
