Group 1 Task
You are responsible for the leading a sample lesson from phase 1 (management phase) of the Sport Education season.
This task should take at the most 30 minutes total time (1 lesson within your unit) and includes rating players at team handball and selectingfair teams for the duration of the season. It also includes emphasizing the importance of co-operation and respect and beginning to build those skills within the selected teams.
This task includes:
- Dividing the group into 6 initial teams and having them put on pinnies.
- Conduct a warm-up activity (could be domes and dishes)
- Explaining the basic rules of team handball (aim is to throw the ball into the opponents goal, no dribbling (just a pivot step), a dropped ball is a change of possession, no stealing from the ball carrier (only interceptions), ball out of bounds at the sideline is a pass in, ball out of bounds at the end line is a GK pass in. Only GK can handle the ball in the penalty zone.
- Once explained you will get three 5v5 games ongoing.
- You will use one volunteer student from each teamto privately rate each player in their initial team (including themselves). This will entail them writing their peer’s names on the rating sheet and using the three point rubric to judge their performance during the initial team handball game.
- On the basis of the rating you will select 6teams that are fairly equal in terms of gender and rating scores.Be careful to not set up public selecting procedures!
- Next you will need to post the teamson the board and then gather them tin to invite teams to select a team name (country).
- Go on to explain to students the importance of co-operation and respect to teammates in achieving success.
- Begin to build team co-operation with a co-operative game (team juggle)
