Historical Facebook Project Guide

This week you will be creating a paper version of a Facebook page for a historical character from the Renaissance and Enlightenment periods. This is a major grade (60% of your total average) and it is due on Monday January 9, 2012. Topic selection is a minor grade (40% of your total average) and is due TODAY – Tuesday January 3, 2012.

Requirements & Scoring:

·  5 Historically Accurate Friends – 20 Points

·  Historically Accurate Profile Information – 20 Points

·  5 Historically Accurate Wall Posts Between Friends with Responses – 20 Points

·  1 Historically Accurate Event Invite – 20 Points

·  Historically Accurate Pictures of your chosen person, his/her friends, and picture for the event invite – 20 points

**Up to 10 extra points will be given for projects that are particularly creative with dialogue on wall posts, profiles, and event invites**

I will be at the Texas Dance Educators Association convention in Houston while you work on this project and a substitute will take you to the computer lab each day to work. If the sub cannot answer your questions, you may e-mail me at . Today’s Goal: Complete research of chosen person and create profile

Directions:

1.  Use a search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc) to find reliable, accurate information about your chosen person.

2.  Take notes on your person’s:

a.  birthdate

b.  hometown

c.  marital status

d.  languages spoken

e.  religious views

f.  interests

g.  interactions with other people (potential Facebook friends)

h.  involvement in historical events and the people involved in those events (potential Facebook event invites)

3.  Create your person’s profile page using your notes

Location: Computer Lab A174
Today’s Goal: Set friends list, find pictures, and create event invite
Directions:
1. Create 5 friends based on your notes.
2. Create an event invite based on your notes either to or from your person.
3. Use a search engine (like Google image search) to find a photo for your person’s profile,
photos to represent the 5 friends, and a photo to add to the event invite.

Friday January 6, 2012
Location: Computer Lab A174
Today’s Goal: Wall Posts/Status Updates Finished
Directions:
1. Create wall posts/status updates and responses between your person and his or her friends
based on your notes. You should have at least 5 original posts with at least one response
each.
2. Finish any other details you missed on the previous days.

All other work must be done at home after today if you have not finished. Either save your work on a USB/flash drive or attach it to an e-mail and send it to yourself. DUE MONDAY JANUARY 9th!
