Hiram College Cheerleading Tryouts 2015

Dear Cheerleader,

As the coaches of Hiram College Cheerleading, we would like to invite you to participate in tryouts for the 2014/2015 cheerleading season on Sunday April 26, 2015 beginning at 1:00pm in the Fleming Fieldhouse. Previous experience with stunting and tumbling is a plus, but not necessary. Interested cheerleaders should fill out and return the registration form, and bring a signed copy of the waiver to the tryouts. No one will be allowed to tryout without a signed waiver.

We currentlyhave one squad that cheers at all home football games and the men’s and women’shome basketball games, plus occasional away games. The team also participates in college events such as Hiram Halloween, and hostscheerleading competitions and youth and middle school camps.

The 2015/2016schedule has not been finalized, but cheerleaders will need to prepare for a possible over-night campAugust 7th – 9thwith AmeriCheer to learn new material, stunts, and safety, bond as a team, and meet teams from other colleges. The team will then move in before school begins to practice and work on game day material, and attend an at-home campAugust 25th- 27th withCheerTime Athletics.The date for move-in has not yet been finalized, but the team typically moves in one or two weeks before schools begins.

We try to keep costs down, but there are items for which cheerleaders are responsible. Items that can be used for multiple years include pomspoms ($20), navy blue briefs ($10), bodyliner ($13), uniform, warm-ups, and Nike Cheer Flash shoes (approx. $60). We will be ordering new uniforms this year, so the price has not yet been established. Yearly fees will include the at-home camp ($90), and camp outfit(s) for the (prices will vary).

Camps, practices, team workouts, games, fundraisers, and most events are mandatory and each cheerleader is expected to cheer for both football and basketball seasons. Hiram College Cheerleading is looking for individuals who are willing to put forth the dedication that is needed for a successful squad, are willing to accept the responsibility of dedicating time and energy to practices, workouts, and games, and understand the importance of teamwork. If you feel you fit these criteria, fill out and email the registration form to o later than April 24, 2015.
