Help Days:I’m Available after school 3:00-3:30(Except for Wednesdays)

Course Description: A thorough treatment of advanced algebraic concepts is provided through the study of functions, equations, inequalities, systems of equations and inequalities, polynomials, rationals, radicals, complex numbers, conic sections, matrices, and sequences and series. Along with algebraic algorithms, and an introduction to Statistics,emphasis will be placed on practical applications throughout the course.

Supplies:☼Textbook (Algebra II, Prentice Hall w/ online resources through )

☼ Notebook/binder with folders or dividers

**I recommend you buy a notebook with graph paper **

☼ TI – 84 Graphing calculators (will be provided, if you need one. $114 is the replacement cost)

You are expected to have your Calculators in class each day.

☼ A ruler or straightedge and graph paper will be needed for some homework assignments

Grading Policy:

• Student grades reflect student achievement and not student behavior.
• Quarterly grades will round up when the percentage is .5 or higher.

Quarter Grade

The final grade is required to be calculated using the quality points and not percentages, letter grades, number or point systems. There are no exemptions from the final exam in this course.

Homework:

• Checked Daily and is DUE at the bell to start the class.
• No late homework is accepted will be accepted (unless it follows the day after an excused absence)
• Must write out problem and show ALL work in order to receive full credit (check odd answers in text)

Test/Quizzes: Test and quizzes will be announced. There are no retakes on tests or quizzes. A missed test or quiz must be made up within three days otherwise the score will be a zero. Students not taking tests/quizzes on the original assessment date will be given a different assessment. On some assessments, no calculators are allowed.

Homework quizzes: Homework quizzes are timed and will not be announced. They come directly from notes, class work, and homework assignments. You will be allowed to use your notebook for a homework quiz. If you miss a homework quiz due to an unexcused tardy or absence, you will receive a zero.

Field Trips: If you are out due to a field trip, you must show evidence of attempting the assignment or copying down the online notes. You must get all work prior to your absence and when you return be prepared with missing work.

Attendance:

• Being on time means you are in your seat and ready to begin class when the bell rings. For each day a student receives an excused absence, he/she will be given one school day to make up missed homework or classwork. Students are responsible to collect class notes from other students or the website.
• Zeroes will be assigned for work assignments or tests missed during an unexcused absence, not as punishment, but as an accurate evaluation of the student's performance on that day. Teachers may assign disciplinary action (e.g., detention) or additional work assignments to students who are tardy. Teachers are not required to assume added duties in order to permit students with elected absences to make up tests or other work. Students forfeit daily class grades for all unexcused absences.

Classroom Expectations:

I follow the rules as stated in the Yorktown High School handbook.

• Be polite and respectful to all people in the classroom
• Be ready for class each day (proper supplies and a good attitude)
• Try your best on every assignment and seek help if you have questions
• No food, drinks, cosmetics, nonacademic use of electronic devices, etc

Cheating:

Whenever you claim another person’s work as your own that is considered cheating. If you are caught cheating on any assignment (for any class), I will write up a referral. If it is for one of my assignments (test, quiz, homework…) you will receive a zero.

Sharing a calculator with a classmate during a test or a quiz IS considered cheating and IS prohibited.
