SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to assist in the development of new grants, support the implementation and processing of current grants, and prepare reports, as needed. This position is also responsible for research and prospect identification for new funding opportunities. Knowledge of grant proposal structure and processes is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Assists in the development of and organizes and submits grant proposals for current and new programs in collaboration with the Senior Director of Advancement.
· Monitors and ensures compliance with grant requirements reporting (i.e., processes grants/contracts and requests funds according to established reports).
· Updates/maintains information on grant management activities (i.e., submissions, awards, deadlines) in excel worksheets and/or grant management software.
· Researches and identifies potential new sources of funding in collaboration with the Senior Director of Advancement and the BoT Development Team.
· Develops relationships with funders and keeps them informed of grant progress, challenges and successes; drafts correspondence to grantors.
· As needed, assists with preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual fiscal reports for funding sources to ensure fiscal compliance; tracks proper allocation of grant expenses according to approved budgets.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, English, writing or similar field. Excellent grammar and strong research skills needed; knowledge of our nonprofit’s field of Social Services preferred.
· Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years experience in grant-making and high-touch customer service. Working knowledge of grant processes, administration systems, and budgeting is preferred.
· Familiarity with the Columbus Philanthropic community preferred.
· Must have ability to assess big picture while also maintaining attention to detail, employ critical thinking, and organize information in a logical manner.
· Candidate should be a patient, active listener and possess excellent oral & written communications skills. Must be able to work independently as well as a part of a team, meet target deadlines and manage time effectively.
· Working knowledge of applicable software programs such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
