Event Details: Saturday, October 20, 2012 | Seattle Center – Fisher Pavilion

Length of Term: 6 months – April through October 2012

Time Requirement: Approximately 5-10 hours per month. As the event draws closer, more hours are necessary.

HEART and STROKE WALK CHAIR

The Heart and Stroke Walk Chair oversees all aspects of logistics for the 2012Puget Sound Heart and Stroke Walk including populating and managing subcommittee’s chairs and members, working with AHA Logistics Specialist to plan meetings and prioritize tasks, and managing committees to ensure they reach goals.

FESTIVAL COMMITTEE

Festival Committee Chair:Oversees the production of the Festival portion of the Heart and Stroke Walk and its subcommittee members. The chair is responsible for populating the committee, working with the Heart and Stroke Walk Chair to ensure that all aspects of the festival are activated according to AHA Best Practices, and manages committee to ensure all goals are reached.

Festival Committee Member: Works on a specific asset, or booth, at the Heart and Stroke Walk festival. Each committee member will work with the Festival Committee Chair to setup the festival area, and develop a booth to enhance the walker experience. The festival committee could potentially prepare all aspects of booths like the Kid Zone, Ask an Expert Area, the Memorial Wall, Family Fitness, Survivor Boot and more.

ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE

Entertainment Committee Chair: Oversees the recruitment of entertainment for the Heart and Stroke Walk and its subcommittee members. The chair is responsible for populating the committee, working with the Heart and Stroke Walk Chair to ensure that all entertainment has been booked, and managing committee to ensure all goals are reached.

Entertainment Committee Member: Works to book cheerleaders, bands, performers, clowns and other groups to help encourage walkers through the Festival and Route of the Heart and Stroke Walk. Acts as the contact person for the groups on the day of the event and takes care of the needs of each group (stage, microphones, etc).

VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE

Volunteer Committee Chair: Oversees the recruitment and training of the day-of volunteers and the Volunteer subcommittee members. The chair is responsible for populating the committee, working with each of the Logistics Committee Chairs to ensure that all the volunteer needs are met for the day of the event, and recruiting volunteers for each of the areas of the walk.

Volunteer Committee Member: Works to recruit volunteers for the day of the event. Contacts volunteer groups and companies for volunteers, follows up with volunteers that sign up on the Heart and Stroke Walk website and assists in training, support and recognition for the day of.

ROUTE COMMITTEE

Route Committee Chair: Oversees the logistics of the route including the signage, water stops, course marshals and all areas of the survivor route. The chair is responsible for populating the committee and working with its members to make a safe and smooth 3 mile route and 1 mile survivor route.

Route Committee Member: Works to develop the logistics, volunteers and necessary supplies for each aspect of the route including water stops, high traffic areas and the survivor route. Helps lead volunteers on the day of the event.

VIP COMMITTEE

VIP Committee Chair: Oversees the VIP breakfast and gifts for the Heart and Stroke Walk’s Top Walkers (walkers who raise $1,000 or more). Populates the committee and ensures that VIP’s receive special treatment and thanks for their efforts.

VIP Committee Member: Helps coordinate each aspect of the VIP experience including booking food, activities, prizes and more for the VIP breakfast for the morning of the walk.
