Help America Vote Act

Grant Cycle

Using funds made available under the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), the Office of Secretary of State is opening a grant cycle for $1.3 million dollars. The deadline for submission of an application is January 15, 2010.

Eligible Applicants: County Election Offices

Anticipated award announcements: April 2010

Eligible requests must:

  • Improve the administration of Federal Elections without supplanting local costs;
  • Contain a 50% match for requests of $50,000 or greater; and
  • Have a thorough and detailed budget.

The following grant applications will receive priority for funding:

  • Requests to comply with findings in Certification &Training reviews;
  • Requests for items or projects that will improve fundamental election administration;
  • Requests that promote innovative election administration practices;
  • Requests covering multiple counties; and
  • Requests that have a long term fiscal savings;
