Greetings Everyone

February 2, 2018

Greetings everyone,

West Fargo Sheyenne is excited to invite you to the second annual Mustang Mane Meet held on Saturday, February 24, 2018.

The meet is open to all 7-12 grade students and is sanctioned by the NDHSAA. Each of the 14 events will have two preliminary rounds with one judge and one final round with 3 judges. My goal is to make every event state qualifying, and all rounds will follow NDHSAA rules. POI (Program Oral Interp) will be offered but will not be State Qualifying. We are hoping to have a variety of Class A and Class B schools participating, too!

Students may enter up to 4 total events regardless of flighting. POI will not count towards a student’s entries. Studentscan be in up to 4 events and POI; however, they need to be aware that they may lose prep time in draw events. Furthermore, because POI is not a state qualifying event, students should prioritize their other events if they end up tight on time. Please mark all novice speakers (*) that are 7th, 8th, or first year freshmen. We will be awarding Top Novice awards to the first novice who does not break finals in each category.

Schools will need to provide one judge per six entries or portion thereof. Those schools not supplying judges will be charged $70/hired judge they need. You must make sure your judges are certified before the meet. Please note if any hired judges you’re bringing have any conflicts with competitors (family member of…, recent graduate of…, etc.)

Registration is due THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15th. You can make changes up to WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21stat 5:00pm without penalty. Changes should be emailed to me ASAP as you get them. After Wednesday, I will not allow adds unless there is space available. Teams are responsible for paying any adds or drops made after Wednesday, including judge costs. Entries are $6/single event and $12/duo.

Registration will be from7:30 to 8:00am in the commons near Door 26 on the south side of the school. Teams should drop off on the south side of the school at Door 26 in the bus loop/parking lot. The student “hang out” will be the Sheyenne Commons with the draw room being the library/media center. Internet should be available for limited prep students, but I have no guarantees. We will work diligently to get internet access before the tournament, though. Our Mustang Boosters have graciously allowed us to use their concession stand, and our judges’ lounge should be stocked with caffeine and calories to get you through the day.

Please note, that Sheyenne may be hosting a possible double header EDC basketball game around the time we are finishing finals and/or doing our awards ceremony. This shouldn’t interfere with anything we’re doing, but if there are additional people in the commons towards the end of the day, that’s why.

Wishing you a great season!
