Exam 3 Study Guide

The exam will be worth 100 points and consists of four sections: image identification (1 point each; 14 total points); multiple choice, true/false, matching (1 point each; 86 total points). This exam draws exclusively from the PowerPoint lectures. If you haven’t already, you should review those lectures with your notes at hand. The list below does not represent all of the questions or subject matter the exam will cover. As always, you may bring a 3x5 card with handwritten notes to consult during the exam.

SECTION 1 – IMAGE IDENTIFICATION

Ø  Be able to match landforms or landscape images from the PowerPoint slides with their corresponding tectonically-produced South Asian mountain range

Ø  Be prepared to match images of South Asian biomes and landscapes and indicator animals from the PowerPoint slides with their corresponding biome

Ø  Be ready to match the major Hindu, Buddhist, and Sikh holy places to their corresponding images from the PowerPoint slides

SECTION 2 – MULTIPLE CHOICE, TRUE/FALSE, MATCHING

Ø  You should be able to identify physiographic features or regions on a map of South Asia

Ø  Be prepared to match the three major river systems of South Asia to some of their major characteristics

Ø  You should be able to identify biomes on a map of South Asia

Ø  Be able to match major agricultural crops to their locations on a map of South Asia

Ø  You should be prepared to answer questions about the atmospheric conditions that spawn the monsoons

Ø  Be prepared to identifying on a map of South Asia the regions in which South Asian religions predominate

Ø  Be ready to match the branches and types of Buddhism to the regions/countries in which they predominate and where those regions are located on a map of South, Southeast, and East Asia

Ø  You should be prepared to answer numerous questions about both Hinduism and Buddhism

Ø  You should be able to match the different phases of the development of Delhi to the controlling groups that created them as well as their appearance on the satellite maps and images used in the PowerPoint lecture

Ø  You should be ready to identify the characteristics of invaders into South Asia and the groups that are in conflict today
