The 6th Health Results Conference

Call for Abstracts

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) of Afghanistan is pleased to announce its 6th Health Results Conference at Kabul on April, 2017 with the main theme “Decisions made in pursuit of quality, healthy life of all Afghans based on evidence”. Herewith, the Health Results Conference committee invites authors/stakeholders to submit abstracts. Submissions are sought in type of oral presentation and posters. The interested international experts can also share their abstracts we provide them the facility of presenting their presentations through Video call.

The main objectives of the Health Results Conference are:

  • To provide the health sector decision makers evidence from research,survey,monitoring, HMIS surveillance and other sources of information to make sure where best to allocate critical financial and technical resources,
  • To identify emerging health issues and priority areas for research collaboration and knowledge generation
  • To determine where changes in policy and programs are needed for strengthening the health sector performance.
  • To improve health sector coordination, communication and collaboration of different health stakeholders for coordinated health system.

Furthermore, the Ministry aims to share knowledge and information among health care providers, health systems personnel, establish research linkages inside Afghanistan and with international experts, and intends to define and identify future needs around health system research in Afghanistan.

This forum will be served as a platform to explore new ways and strategies for improving the health condition of the Afghans.

Indeed, the Conference provides an exciting technical program mix, encompassing a wide range of sessions covering all aspects of health systems, including the Governance, healthcare services, public health, institutional development, human resources for health, M&E, learning and knowledge management.

Abstracts Theme and Sub themes:

1.Governance including:Accountability, Transparency, Equity and Human Rights Approach, Laws and Regulations, Aid Effectiveness, Public-Private Investment Partnerships
  1. Institutional development including Health management, Health planning , Gender, Systems strengthening , Health financing and revenue generation , Provincial level and decentralization , Procurement ,Gaps identification in academia ,
  2. Public health including:Health promotion , Community empowerment, Prevention health , Environmental health , Emergency preparedness and disaster management, Maternal, neonatal and child health, Communicable and non-communicable diseases , Nutrition, Disability, accidents and injuries, Drug demand reduction, Mental health and Immunization
  3. Health services including :Quality of health and clinical services, Contracting out and contracting in mechanisms, Basic and essential packages of health services, Tertiary and specialist care, Pharmaceuticals
  4. Human resources including:Human resource policy , Human resource planning, Human resource production and procurement,
  5. M&E, Learning, and knowledge management: health system research, biomedical research, monitoring, evaluation, vital statistics, HMIS.Surveillance of diseases

Abstract Submission Guideline:

Please submit your abstract using the bellow format In no more than 350 words, excluding title, authors, affiliations, spaces, title notes, and footnotes.

Title:

Sub Thematic area:Indicate to which sub-thematic area results relate.

Authors' Names/ Organization: Include first name in full, middle initial and family name in full. Do not include any titles or degrees.

Authors' Affiliations:Affiliations should include the city and country, but not the street or postal/zip code. When more than one author is listed, use superscript letters to match authors and affiliations. One affiliation should be given per line.

Methods: Detail the Research/Evaluation/ Routine data /Surveys /Project assessment methods

Results: Present the main findings systematically

Conclusion & Recommendations:

The Abstracts can be submitted for oral and poster presentations

The deadline for sending your abstracts is 25th February 2017 .

Please Note:

  • No changes in the abstract contents and the authorship will be allowed after the final submission. If you wish to withdraw your abstract after final date you must inform the Evaluation and Health information system General Directorate of MoPH through e-mail only ().
  • The abstract submitted should be original and not previously presented at previous Health Results conferences
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English only.
  • Abstracts must not exceed more than 350 words, excluding title, authors, affiliations, spaces, title notes, and footnotes.
  • Those who submit research abstracts will be notified regarding the acceptance / rejection approximately 20 days ahead of the conference. If accepted, this notification will include the date and time of the session / presentation.
  • Include a brief title to clearly indicate the nature of the study. Please do not use abbreviations in the title and the abstract Content
  • Abstracts will be published in the Abstract Book
  • Use "Times Roman"12 font size and single line spacing for the abstract text.
  • Please check the spelling and grammar carefully.

The interested partners can also share their projects findings, lessons learned, opportunities and challenges through an abstract, both successful and failed projects can be presented in the conference as lessons learnt for future projects.
