10:30-11:30 - A hop, skip and jump through Leeds Museums and Galleries’ under 5 programmes, formal and informal.
Find out about our Early Years workshops, trails, pop-up multi-sensory mornings and the intergenerational opportunities of Takeover Day. A chance to put ideas into practice with an explore around the gallery during the session.

11:30-12:30 ‘Working with a Blank Canvas: Developing Sessions for a Refurbished Gallery’.Heritage Learning at Ferens Art Gallery (Hull)
The reopening of the Ferens Art Gallery in January 2017 presented an opportunity for us to reimagine our offer for schools at the Art Gallery. Our new programme embraced new acquisitions to the collection (Lorenzetti’s Christ between Saints Paul and Peter), new audience focuses for the learning team (Under 5s) and Hull’s status as UK City of Culture 2017. We’d like to share with you how we approached our new programme, what we’ve learned and give you a taste of our school sessions through some practical activities.

13:30-14:30 On-Gallery Role-Play
We will use Lotherton Hall’s WW2 role play as a case study to see how the house is used, and what works/what problems you can encounter.We will then see an example of how On-Gallery role play can be adapted into an art gallery space and how it works within a gallery space.

Using art as a starting point for the creative curriculum based on the National Gallery’s Take One.
