Attached is the Announcement package for the 2013 Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Western Divisionals to be held January 26-27, 2013 (Saturday and Sunday) at the GanderCommunity Center, Gander, NL.

Please copy and distribute the complete package to all qualified skaters and coaches in your club. Enclosed please find the following information.

Parents must ensure that all information isfully completed with current copy of Skate Canada membership card.

We would like to have a CLUB photo of skaters attending Divisionals accompanied with your club summary form. This photo may be digital and submitted in jpeg format to . Please forward the photo as soon as possible. Cheques should be made payable to “Silver Jets Skating Club”. All forms must be received by the host club on or before December 22 2012. Incomplete forms may be returned, possibly causing a late fee or ineligibility.

A Schedule of Events will be forwarded as soon as possible following the receipt of all applications.

Announcement Information

  1. Entry Forms…

Applications for qualifying categories at Provincials shall be made through the Divisional Championships. STARSkate, Competitive Skate, Special Olympics or ADULTSkate categories that receive byes to the Provincial Championships shall send entry forms directly to the Provincial Host Committee.

  1. Competition Fees…

The Competition fee is $53 per event, plus $7 Official’s Development and Technology Fee (total of $60.00).Skaters

registering for combined events pre-novice and higher, the Competition fee will be $53 + $27 + $7=$87.

All Fees should be payable to Silver Jets Skating Club by club cheque.

At the discretion of the Championship Committee, fees for late entries will be increased to $75.

All entry forms and fees must be forwarded to the Divisional’s Host Committee with all competition fees and current SC Membership card to:

  1. Eligibilities…

All eligibilities are as per Skate Canada Rule Book or Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Technical Package.

  1. ISU Placement Calculations…

The ISU Placement Calculations (OBO) will be used to determine the results of the STARSkate Preliminary categories and Junior Bronze and higher will be calculated using the (CPC) method.

  1. Music…

Music must be recorded on CD’s and two copies per event are to be submitted upon registration.

Music should commence on CD’s no later than five seconds beyond leader CD.

Each CD and its container must be clearly marked with the following information:

“Master” or “Copy” CD (as applicable)

NOTE: Pre-Juvenile and Juvenile Dancers will use Series 8 Music. Pre-Novice and Novice Dancers will use ISU Music.

  1. Ice Surface…

200 feet x 85 feet

The Arena is heated.

  1. Accommodations…

Information is attached on page 8.

Rooms have been blocked off at Hotel Gander, the Albatross and Comfort Inn at a given rate.

Other accommodations are also available and listed for your convenience.

All entrants are responsible for making their own reservations and paying their own bills.

10. Transportation…

Skaters are responsible for their own transportation to GanderCommunity Center.

11. Admission…

Admission to the competition will be free of charge.

12. Hospitality..

Due to regulations of the Arena, hospitality will NOT be available for parents, skaters, or the general public.

A Canteen is available to the public (outside food is not permitted to be brought into the canteen seating area).

There will be a hospitality room available to volunteers, invited guests, sponsors, judges and officials.

13. Coaches…

To be accredited at the 2013Western Divisional Championships, coaches and skating instructors must be members of Skate Canada, 3M NCCP Level 1 certified and possess a valid First Aid Certificate.

Coaches must register at the GanderCommunity Center and show their photo ID.

14. Registration…

Tentatively set to begin at the GanderCommunity Center, Friday, January 25th (3:00pm – 5:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm)

Registration will also be set up at the GanderCommunity CenterSaturday, January 26th beginning one hour prior to the first scheduled event.

15. Opening Ceremonies…

All skaters are expected to participate with the exception of those skaters competing immediately following ceremonies.

All clubs are expected to bring their banners.

Dress code for the Opening Ceremonies includes skating club attire or other appropriate clothing (no jeans).

16. Closing Ceremonies…

to be held Sunday, January 27th.

17. Medal Presentations…

Medals will be presented during each flood.

18. Merchandise…

Clothing embroidered withthe 2013Western Divisionals Logo is to be pre-ordered and pre-paid using the attached forms (Club Summary Sheet and Merchandise Order Form).

19. Testing…

May be available during the competition pending judge’s availability. Please indicate interest.
