Peace Meal Comments:

These are estimates of the number who would benefit from meals but cannot be reached. Since there were no changes to the service area in FY16, there are no changes to our estimates from FY15. Additional funding would allow the establishment of additional routes to meet the need. Note that frozen meals are offered to those referrals outside established service area. Approximately ten people accept the offer of frozen meals.
What additional funds would be needed in order to provide home delivered meals to the PSA Total number of persons denied services in the previous fiscal year? At minimum, outline meal preparation and meal delivery costs for a full fiscal year. If additional funds are needed beyond the meal preparation and delivery costs, outline these additional costs (e.g., equipment) separately.

PEACE MEAL REPORTED:

Impact of State Budget on Nutrition Program

Please outline below the impact (e.g., reduced serving days or established waiting lists) of not receiving state dollars (General Revenue Funds) has had on your nutrition program.

PEACE MEAL REPORTED:

Peace Meal is currently operating as usual due to the generosity of our sponsoring agency, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Without this support, I believe our program would have at least cut back to 4 day service, potentially 3 day service. Due to the belief in the mission of Peace Meal and the dedication to the clients we serve, SBLHC is remaining committed to serving five days per week until the leaders of our state are willing to come to an agreement.

It should be noted that while this is a current solution, it may not be viewed as a long term solution. Resolution to the budget is critical to continuation of senior nutrition in the region served by Peace Meal.

CRIS REPORTED:

Additional impact of not having a budget at CRIS will come if there is no resolution in establishing a budget.

The significant situation we have at CRIS is the outcome of adding several persons from our waiting list with the generous allocation from ECIAAA in FY 2015, yet not the ability to sustain in this fiscal year of 2016, therefore requiring a four day week to maintain a service to all on our roles.

DMCOC REPORTED: N/A

CATHOLIC CHARITIES REPORTED:

If the General Revenue Funds ceased drastic measures would need to be implemented. Not in any particular order but there would be staff reductions, and waiting lists would be established. We would reduce the size of the program to match available funds to the program.
