Probation Officer Safety - Thisone day program, specifically developed for adult and juvenile probation officers, provides a “best practices” approach to officer safety. In this program, participants will receive information on the realities of how probation and parole officers are killed and injured and how best to protect themselves from such attacks.

This safety training program covers: liability issues, officer victimization, strategies for survival, use of force continuum, dealing with aggressive behavior, working with emotionally disturbedoffenders, office safety, field safety, and critical incident stress debriefing.

Probation Officer Safety: Training of Trainers- After participating in the one day Probation Officer Safety class above, 30 participants will receive more in-depth information on officer safety and receive the skills and information that will allow them to present the materials within their own agencies. Activities during the instructor training include developing training goals and writing performance objectives, identification of desired skills and development of steps pertinent to successful demonstration of the skills, development of job task exercises, safety scenarios and other appropriate learning activities. Participants receive a CD with handout materials, lesson plan and PowerPoint presentation.
