FORTETM GREENGUARD CERTIFIED INTERIOR PANEL SIGNAGE SYSTEM

PART 1 GENERAL

1.01 SECTION INCLUDES

1. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessible Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities; Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) Accessibility Guidelines. Adopted in 2004.

1.04 SUBMITTALS

A. Submit the following in accordance with Section 01 33 23:

1. Product Data: Material description, fabrication methods, and color choices.

2. Shop Drawings: Indicate elevations of each sign type, dimensions, letter and numerical style and sizes, materials, colors, finishes and fabrication details, mounting heights, and schedules of locations.

3. Samples:

a. Except as otherwise specified, submit samples of all signage materials, including fastening materials, in specified colors and finishes, and other related samples as may be requested. Samples shall be indicative of the kind of material, finishes, construction, thickness, quality and workmanship for all signs.

b. Submit one full size sample of each room sign type, simultaneously with submittal of shop drawings. Upon review and approval by Architect, samples will become the standard for quality of workmanship for the signage. Samples will remain property of the Owner, and not part of the finished work.

c. Sign components fabricated from GEI GREENGUARD certified materials shall bear the GREENGUARD symbol, either embossed or with decal on the concealed surface of the component.

4. Certifications: Submit certifications stating that sign systems are fabricated from GEI GREENGUARD certified materials, excluding aluminum frames if a part of the sign system.

B. Closeout Submittals:

1. Provide the Owner with a Sign Replacement Manual after completion of all signage installation. Manual shall contain information required to order each sign type included in this Specification, using the same designations indicated on Drawings or in the Specifications.

a. Each sign type should be described in a format in which the owner needs only to fill out the requirements for copy, after selecting the proper sign type.

2. Include the following information for each sign type:

a. Diagram showing (blank) copy location, dimensions, color placement, copy sizes, and installation locations.

1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer’s Qualifications:

1. A company with not less than 5 successive years experience in the manufacture of interior building signs.

2. Furnish a list of at least 3 signage projects completed in the previous 2 years if requested by the Architect.

B. Field Samples: Furnish one sample sign of each type to the Architect for review. When approved, Architect will forward sign to the Project site for installation.

SPECIFIER Select: Signage required to be accessible to people with disabilities must comply with requirements in ADA-ABA Accessibility Guidelines and with requirements of authorities having jurisdiction, whichever is more stringent. Verify local requirements and insert additional requirements below.

C. Regulatory Requirements: Comply with applicable provisions in [ADA-ABA Accessibility Guidelines] [and] [ICC/ANSI A 117.1].

SPECIFIER Select: Use Paragraph below for signage produced from Maxima™ sign materials with a painted finish.

D. Surface-Burning Characteristics: As determined by testing identical products according to ASTM E84, or another standard acceptable to authorities having jurisdication, by a qualified testing agency.

1. Flame-Spread Index: 25 or less.

2. Smoke-Developed Index: 450 or less.

E. Applied paints shall meet the current requirements of EPA 40 CFR Part 59.

1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Deliver signs to the Project site, protective wrapped to prevent damage during delivery and storage. Store signs in a dry area protected from the elements, where temperatures do not exceed 104 degrees (40 degrees C).

Part 3 EXECUTIONS

3.01 EXAMINATION

A. Examine the substrated and conditions under which the work is to be performed, and notify the Contractor in writing of conditions detrimental to the proper and timely completion of the work. Do not proceed with the installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

1. Verify that mounting locations for each sign exist which comply with ADA, Section 4.30.6.

3.02 INSTALLATION

A. Mount sign frames level and plum with screws or adhesive-backed foam tape to substrates at locations and heights to comply with ADA, Section 4.30.6.

SPECIFIER Note: Screws are not furnished with sign frames; foam tape is furnished upon request.

1. To plumb with screws, remove sign inserts with suction cup furnished, mount and level frame, then reposition sign insert.

3.03 SCHEDULE

A. Provide the following interior signs:
