FCHS Scores Two Team Upsets in Colorado Against Top Teams in SW Region

FCHS Scores two team wins at the Cherry Creek Invitational!

Course and conditions: Cool, overcast/light rain, 60s. Course 3.1 miles, One large loop on gravel and cement bike trail around Cherry Creek Reservior. 25 girls teams competed, 27 boys teams competed.

Fort Collins High School Girls (Maddie Dengler, Katelyn Keating, Kirsten Follett, Miranda Benzel, Tati Ogan, Rachel Viger, and Alicia Holt) Team champions of the Cherry Creek Invitational in Denver, Colorado.

Girls Varsity race: 5:00 pm. This race featured another showdown between top NTN SW region teams, including Fairview- #1 SW, Dakota Ridge-#3 SW, Cherry Creek-#10 SW, and Fort Collins High School. Fort Collins High School, who beat Fairview the week before in Boulder, beat them again by a 30 point margin. Though Fairview put three in the top four, the Lambkins strength again was in their low pack time of 28 seconds! Individually, it was Katelyn Vannatta that ran away from the pack again, nearly a minute ahead of second place in 17:32!

Boys Varsity race: 4:50 pm. This race also featured some of the top teams in the SW Region, including Cherry Creek -#2 SW, Dakota Ridge -#6 SW, and Fort Collins High School. Fort Collins High School was led by two top-ten performances in Bryant Mason (4th), and Will Everett (5th). Individually it was Kevin Williams of D’Evelyn that ran away with the title in 15:49.
