Ascent & descent:the same

Length: the summit via this route can be attempted in a minimum of 5 days, making it one of the shortest routes available, however an additional day for acclimatisation is highly recommended. Shorter hikes are possible on this route for example: 1 day trips to Mandara Hut, please see the ‘Short treks’ section in our website.

Price: lowest priced route in comparison to others. Please contact us for price quote.

Success rate: for the summit the success rates on this route is one of the lowest which could be for a number of reasons including lack of acclimatisation to the altitude due to the fast ascent; or the route’s reputation of being easy may appeal to those with less experience and training.

Acclimatisation: poor acclimatisation, known to be one of the routes with the least altitude acclimatisation.

Level: beginners – intermediate

People traffic: very high, as this route is additionally used as a descent route for those who have ascended via Marangu or Rongai.

Kilimanjaro National Park Guidelines

No soft plastics permitted:

Kilimanjaro National Park does not allow soft plastics on the mountain. We would advise our clients to have metal bottles, hard plastic bottles or water bladders instead. Even though soft plastics are not permitted, we would recommend our clients to have plastic bags in their duffel bags to separate their wet / dirty clothes from their dry / clean ones and additionally to line bags in case of heavy rain on the mountain.
