RULES

1.  Participant must agree to sign the standard On Camera/Still Photo Release Form. This event is not scheduled to air on television.

2.  Participant must pay $160.00 non-refundable entry fee. Even a medical release from a vet or personal health issues are not grounds for a refund.

3.  Participant may not have a prior relationship with any competition judge.

4.  Participant will abide by the ruling of the judge. All judge’s decisions are final.

5.  The official timer will have the final time decision. There will also be a minimum of one back up timer. Should the primary fail, the back-up timer will be made the official time. The timers’ decision is final and may not be challenged in any way by the Participant. Should all timers fail, the Participant will receive a re-ride at the end of all competitors for that day.

6.  Participant’s horse must pass a pre-race and post-race vet exam (subject to specific event). The veterinarian’s decision is final with no exceptions and no refunds of the Participants money will be given should the horse not pass the pre-race or post-race exam.

7.  All EXCA Divisions will be offered.

8.  Participant will be paid $0 for their participation, photos, or any possible future television production from this event.

9.  Obstacles and course rules are reviewed before the race begins. It is the responsibility of the Participant to fully understand the rules of the course before the race begins. Participants are allowed to ask questions about the rules until such time that the first Participant enters the competition course.

10.  Only the Participant is allowed on the course at any time and rider must complete the course unassisted.

11.  The crowd at the event is part of the course and as such, Participant acknowledges that the crowd is an obstacle in and of itself.

12.  Participant may take notes, but may not video or photograph the course.

13.  Video cameras are strictly prohibited.

14.  The official draw may not be challenged and the Participant must compete in the order they are drawn. Not competing in this order will be grounds for immediate disqualification.

15.  Participant may ride any horse they desire as long as the horse can pass all veterinary exams and is within the guidelines for this particular race.

16.  Participant may not change horses for any reason in the qualifying rounds or for the finals. If Participant’s horse is injured between qualifying and the finals, the Participant will be withdrawn from the competition.

17.  The judges may disqualify a Participant for abuse of any animal or these rules with no notice or reason given.

18.  At the judge’s discretion, a Participant may be issued a re-ride should an outside distraction from beyond the course be so great as to inhibit the Participant from competing. A Participant must complete the course, receive an official time and then immediately seek a re-ride from the judges within one minute. If a re-ride is issued, the Participant will receive a re-ride at the end of all competitors for that day.

19.  The judge’s decision can not be challenged in any way for any reason.

20.  If Participant can not complete the course, the judge will immediately disqualify the Participant. Should the Participant remain on the course for more than 10 minutes, without sufficient movement toward completing the course, the Participant will be disqualified.

21.  Should the Participant become dismounted, the Participant’s time will continue to elapse until such time that either their horse leaves the course boundary or the Participant is removed from the course for medical reasons. In either circumstance, the Participant is disqualified. If the Participant becomes dismounted, the Participant may re-mount and continue while time continues to elapse. However, no-one may help the Participant re-gain control of their horse or help them re-mount for any reason. If so, the Participant is disqualified. Should the Participants horse need to be restrained by anyone at the course boundary, the Participant is disqualified.

22.  Each Participant must make an effort to complete each obstacle presented. This means, a Participant may not choose to skip and obstacle. If a Participant skips an obstacle they will be disqualified. Should a Participant veer off course and miss an obstacle, they must go back and complete the obstacle before crossing the finish line. A judge will not remind them or alert them if they missed an obstacle. If it appears that the Participant is abusing this rule to create a competitive advantage, the judge may disqualify the Participant.

23.  No drugs of any kind will be tolerated or administered to a horse. And, subject to state of New Mexico drug testing.

24.  The judge and/or show producer and/or Craig Cameron may disqualify a Participant for any reason if it appears that the Participant is abusing drugs or alcohol that may or may not impair their ability to safely navigate the course.

25.  All disputes must be brought to the attention of the judge within one minute of completing the course by the Participant. All judge’s decisions are final and may not be appealed for any reason.

26.  No modifications may be made to the saddle or gear used by competitor to aid in the completion of the course.

27.  Producer reserves the right to add invitational contestants to the competition. Craig Cameron will set number of contestants per round.

28.  All rules are subject to change at any time for any reason at the sole discretion of Craig Cameron.

29.  The horse and rider should be outfitted in proper western attire. This includes but not limited to a long sleeve shirt with collar, a western hat, and boots, (No tennis shoes, billed caps, tee shirts, shorts, or anything non-western) according to judges or producers of the event.

30.  Western tack and equipment is to be used as well. Any bit, or any other piece of equipment deemed severe, will not be allowed. This is at the discretion of the judges and producers of the event.
