Example 1: White Plains – Parking at the Metro-North Station.

There are multiple parking lots and spaces near the Metro-North White Plains Stations – the lots are operated by the Westchester County Dept. of Parks, Recreation & Conservation or the City of White Plains. Next to the station is the White Plains TransCenter, a terminal/transfer point for many Bee-Line buses as well as intercity buses (Greyhound Lines, Short Line Bus, and Trailways of New York) and Connecticut Transit's I-Bus to Stamford, Connecticut.

Table 1through Table 4 describes the high level description of the example Parking Facility and the general services offered at the site. Although these descriptions are inspired by the White Plains Transit Center parking facilities, the specific data is manufactured by the PDP authors.

Table 1: Example 1-- Parking Facility Data Concept

Parking Facility / Sample Data / Comment
parkingID / WP2a / WP3b / Assigned unique number
parkingDescription / “MNR - White Plains – Lot 2a” / “MNR – White Plains – Lot 3b”
locationID / 50011 / 50013 / Same as locationID for transit stop, transit facility, or shared transit facility. This example shows a manufactured shared facility locationID. The context of the locationID is based on the location data that is contained in the instance document (may include SDP, PDP, or iTSIP).
Each lot is assigned its own description and coordinates.
Footprint / / / May insert a verbal description or URL that links user to Figure 1.
ownerName / “City of White Plains” / “Westchester County Parking and Recreations”
ownerContact / The department that manages the parking operator is inserted in this field.

restrictionDescription / --- / --- / not available
fillTime_from / --- / --- / not available
fillTIme_to / --- / --- / not available
isPartof / “true” / “true” / Boolean: true means that it is part of a transit facility
partOf / 50010 / 50010 / Reference to shared facility identifier (transitFacilityID). In this case, the example the locationID is the same as the transitFacilityID.

Table 2: Example 1--ParkingFacilityType Data Concept

ParkingFacilityType / Sample Data / Comment

restriction / Disability Permit required / Disability Permit required / Disability Permit required / compact car / none / none / none / oversized / oversized / Parking spaces 1 to 12 are persons with disabilities parking only

Table 6shows an example of the services assigned to a parking space. This is important for special spaces that have restrictions or special services. For example, there may be spaces that are reserved, or ones that are reserved exclusively for electric cars requiring charging terminals or for oversized vehicles.
