In accordance with HB 5, TJJD Division of Education will be offering 3 of the 5 diploma Endorsements to its students. This document outlines endorsement requirements and course offerings available to our students. Some courses may be offered online as well as in the traditional classroom, and some may be offered as dual credit. Please refer to the requirements for the Foundation High School Program as they are the basis of all endorsed diplomas. A course completed as part of the set of courses needed to satisfy an endorsement requirement may also satisfy a requirement for the Foundation High School Plan, including an elective requirement; however, the 26 credit requirement must still be met. /


Arts & Humanities:Requires Foundation High School Program (22 credits) plus an Advanced Math credit, an Advanced Science credit, and 2 additional elective credits. A student pursuing an arts and humanities endorsement who has the written permission of the student’s parent may substitute an English language arts course, a social studies course, a LOTE course, or a fine arts course for the additional science credit required to earn an endorsement.This written permission must be placed in the student’s Master File by the school counselor.Courses in bold are .5 credit only.

Also required is a coherent sequence of courses for 4 or more credits in CTE, 2 of which must be in the same career cluster with at least one being an advanced CTE course. Endorsement areas are listed below with each area’s corresponding coherent sequence of courses (reading from left to right for sequence, the grey boxes in each area are advanced courses). A Business and IndustryCombination may also be an endorsement pathway for students. This choice requires the Foundation High School Program (22 credits), plus an Advanced Math credit, an Advanced Science credit, and 2 additional elective credits. Also required is a coherent sequence of courses for 4 or more credits chosen from the CTE and Communication Application areas (total 26 credits). For course sequence 1-3, students can choose one of the course offerings in the first box (courses cannot be repeated. 3 of the 9 courses must be completed for 3 credits). The grey box is the 4th course in the sequence, from which students choose one Advanced course.

Multi-Disciplinary Studies:Requires Foundation High School Program (22 credits) plus an Advanced Math credit, an Advanced Science credit, and 2 additional elective credits (total 26 credits). The following options are available for students to earn this endorsement:

  • 4 advanced courses that prepare a student to enter the workforce successfully or postsecondary education without remediation from within one endorsement area or among endorsement areas that aren’t in a coherent sequence (advanced courses are in the grey boxes above. Pre-requisites must be met).
  • 4 credits in each of the four foundation subject areas to include English IV and chemistry and/or physics
  • 4 credits in dual credit selected from English, math, science, social studies, economics, languages other than English, or fine arts.
