Note: A Peer & Self Evaluation assessment (Assessment Y) is to be filled out by each group member following the submission of your group work. While Assessment Y is graded separately from Assessment X, you need to know the following:

·  Group members typically all receive the same grade for the Group Research Paper assessment

·  If through the Assessment Y it is deemed that you did not participate in your group work, you may receive a zero for both for the Peer & Self Evaluation and the Group Research Paper.

Instructions

Instructions need to be tailored to your assessment. For example, students can work in-class and/or online using the tools in D2L (a private D2L discussion topic and an Adobe Connect (AC) room). Students using Adobe Connect need to configure their computer/browser by following the steps in this tutorial: http://conted.ucalgary.ca/elearn/acm/configure.pdf

Get Organized

·  Introduce yourself to your group members

·  Brainstorm roles and responsibilities for group members

Start Working

·  Connect to discuss the topic and brainstorm ideas for your paper.

·  Share research results. Remember to use credible information sources and respect copyright.

·  Author a research paper following the information listed in the Requirements section.

·  Make sure you have a persuasive argument and support your position with research.

Submit Your Work

·  Elect one group member to read the paper in class

·  Elect one group member post the research paper to the Assessment X Dropbox

Requirements

1.  The paper should be 750 words or 3 pages double-spaced (not including references and title page).

2.  Formatting:

a.  12 point Times New Roman font

b.  1 inch document margins

c.  Numbered pages

3.  APA style is to be used when citing/referencing your information sources.

Evaluation

This assessment is graded out of 20 points and will be evaluated using the following rubric.
