Mortar Board, Inc., a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for their achievements in scholarship, leadership, and service, creates opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities, and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community.
Membership is based on outstanding scholarship, leadership, and service. Members must be in the final term of their junior year or have equivalent status. All members must be at least in the upper 35% of the class, have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and must have demonstrated leadership abilities and service to the university and/or community. Membership in Mortar Board entails attending a monthly meeting, participating in the various service projects coordinated each semester, and an annual membership fee of $90. Scholarships towards the membership fee are available through Mortar Board and the national organization, in cooperation with the Mortar Board Foundation, annually awards fellowships in the amount of $2,000.
The National Project of Mortar Board is “Reading is Leading.” This upcoming spring, our Chapter is holding a fundraiser to donate children’s book to an elementary school.
