On page 1, following the title, insert the following:
"WHEREAS, the Pioneer Playhouse in Danville, Kentucky is the first and oldest outdoor theater in Kentucky, founded in 1950 by Colonel Eben C. Henson; and
WHEREAS, the Pioneer Playhouse was instrumental in the development of other state outdoor theaters, helping to pioneer the outdoor theater movement in the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, the Pioneer Playhouse has also been a School of Drama and was the first Governor's School of the Arts in the state for the school's initial ten years; and
WHEREAS, the Pioneer Playhouse has pioneered tourism, arts, and education programs in the state for over 55 years and has been a training ground for over 3000 actors; and
WHEREAS, the Pioneer Playhouse was the first statutory state theater in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Pioneer Playhouse was the first theater group to tour the Kentucky state parks system, creating a desire for more outdoor theater; and
WHEREAS, the Pioneer Playhouse has helped create numerous state arts agencies, including the Kentucky Arts Council; and
WHEREAS, the Pioneer Playhouse was instrumental in advising and creating the Kentucky Theater Association and Kentucky Film Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Pioneer Playhouse has brought national recognition to the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a progressive arts leader; and
WHEREAS, the Pioneer Playhouse has enlightened the region culturally and benefited the area economically for over five decades; and"; and
On page 1, after line 4, by inserting the following:
"SECTION 2. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 2 IS CREATED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
The Pioneer Playhouse in Danville, Kentucky, is named and designated as the official outdoor theater capital of Kentucky.
SECTION 3. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 2 IS CREATED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
The J. Dan Talbott Amphitheater in Bardstown, the theater home of the official state outdoor musical of Kentucky, "Stephen Foster -- The Musical," is named and designated as the official outdoor musical theater of Kentucky."
