MESSAGE

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This week our 3rd and 4th grade students completed their STAAR exams. The students were motivated and ready to tackle the tests. Students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade created posters, chant, and keepsakes for our 3rd and 4th grade students at a STAAR pep rally held on Monday. Everyone had a great time.

On another note, Relay for Life, an event sponsored by the American Cancer Society, will begin today, Friday, April 26that the La Feria High School stadium. IDEA Academy San Benito will be participating in this event beginning at 6:00 p.m. Our Relay for Life royalty court, which was named last week, will lead our team in the Parade of teams lap. If you do not have plans for this evening, stop by and support our team members by walking with us or spending time at our tent. We hope to see you there.

We hope your child enjoys their three day weekend and look forward to seeing your child on Tuesday, April 30th.

OPERATIONS CORNER

Facilities

Parents please excuse our long grass! Students have been working extremely hard on STAAR and End of Course testing that we have postponed cutting our grass to help keep the campus QUIET and CONCENTRATION LEVELS AT AN ALL TIME HIGH.

Student Pick-Up

Please help students achieve academic success by not picking up your child before 3:45. Picking up your child prior to 3:45 causes classroom interruptions and distractions for your child and all students in the class. If your child has a doctors/dentist appointment, please bring in an appointment card.

Late Student Arrivals

All students that are arriving to campus at or after 7:45 need to be dropped off in the front office area near the flag poles. ALL students must obtain a tardy slip from the front office prior to reporting to class. The Academy drop off entrance will be blocked off at 7:45 and all vehicles will be directed to the front office drop off.

Negative Balances

Parents please pay all negative balances with CNP. For inquiries on negative balances please call Zoila Torres at 202-5777, or call our front office at 399-5252 and ask to be transferred to CNP.

Attendance

Texas State Law States:

A student who fails to attend classes for at least 90% of the days the class is offered, cannot receive credit for the class—even if the absences were excused by the school district for medical or other reasons (TEC 25.092).

Daily attendance at IDEA is very important because when your child is not in his/her seat your child is missing out on the instruction taking place by teachers.

Please have your child at school daily. If a child is absent more than 10% of the calendar days, it may result in their loss of credits and repeating their current grade level.

Coach’s Corner

Facts of Week:

·  Through the lack of testosterone, both young boys and girls can only experience very limited muscle mass increases through exercise, but can experience muscle strength.

·  Muscle mass increases in children usually just increases with age and hormone development.

Tip of the Week:

·  Check the Nutrient labels for ingredients to help limit sodium intake in your daily meals.

Homework of the Week:

·  March for 10 in order to work on your lower body muscles.
