Table Tennis and Arsenal FC join forces to offer local young people the Fred Perry Urban Cup table tennis experience!

Press release

Date: (date)

Arsenal youngsters will soon be able to try Table tennis – and then play for their local club – thanks to a project funded by Fred Perry, SportsMatch, the Premier League 4 Sport and the English Table Tennis Association.

Fred Perry Urban Cup will be holding six ‘come and try’ sessions in the surrounding schools starting next week, followed by an open tournament at St James’ High School on Saturday (Date). The sessions are intended to attract more young people to the club (and to fill its second junior team) ahead of the 2011/12 season.

Sarah Jones, Fred Perry Urban Cup’s Team Manager said:

“The Fred Perry Urban Cup is a great competition which will help our club to attract more young members. Our project is opening up our club and giving people in Bulston the opportunity to play Table tennis competitively. We’re delighted to have received Lottery funding to make it all happen.”

Richard Yule, CEO, England Table Tennis Association, said:

“The opportunity to try Table Tennis for the first time is often all a person needs to catch the sporting bug. The Come Try Table tennis project is a great way for young people to try Table Tennis and get a quality sporting experience that will encourage them to stay involved.”
