NOVA Chapter

Dear Ms. Grunwald,

This letter is to inform you NCMA has reviewed and accepted your bylaws incorporating language that is consistent with the term limit provision of the national bylaws template that was instituted in December 2015. The bylaws were reviewed by NCMA Chapter Relations as allowed by the Governance Committee.

The NCMA Board of Directors approved a bylaw change in December 2015 establishing the following term limits:

·  The term of office for chapter officers shall be one (1) year or two (2) years.

·  Once elected to a chapter officer position, an officer may be reelected for one (1) additional term for the same officer position.

·  Years of service for the same officer position shall not exceed four (4) consecutive years.

The term limit language we have on file for your chapter state:

ARTICLE IV: TERM OF OFFICE/EXECUTIVE MEETINGS

The Chapter Executive CouncB. The term of office for chapter officers shall be one program year. The President-Elect shall serve one program year and will serve as President the subsequent program year. If a candidate for President-Elect is not nominated, the President will continue to serve in that role the following year; however any person serving as Chapter President may not serve in that position more than two consecutive program years without the unanimous vote of the Chapter Executive Council. The Treasurer and Secretary may be nominated and elected to succeed themselves in the same office but shall not serve more than two consecutive program years in the same office.

A copy of the chapter bylaws shall be maintained in an electronic file format at NCMA headquarters. Each chapter is expected to:

·  Require the chapter secretary to maintain a copy of the chapter bylaws, and

·  Submit chapter bylaws annually as an attachment with the submission of the Chapter Annual Report that is due July 31.

Thank you to the chapter leadership for ensuring the chapter bylaws are current and align with national requirements.
