General Information

PART 1: TRAITS OF A GOOD EMPLOYEE

Think about the expectations, attitude, and work ethics you believe are important for an outstanding employee. How do teamwork and work habits affect work performance? Thoroughly address the points below. Each response should be a minimum of 3-4 sentences. Include information about how your personal characteristics compare to those of an outstanding employee. Follow the portfolio guidelines for formatting.

EXPECTATIONS

What are your employer’s expectations of employees? (i.e. dress code, attendance, cell phones, etc.)

ATTITUDE

Describe your attitude. Has it changed since you have been working? What is the importance of a good attitude at work? How can it help you? How does body language express your attitude?

WORK ETHICS

Take the 50 question survey at www.coe.uga.edu/workethic/less2.htm and explain your results. Print the results and turn in with your report. How can you improve in these areas?

TEAMWORK

Explain how teamwork is used at your workplace. Why is being able to work with a diverse group of people important? Do you believe you are an asset in a team situation and why?

WORK HABITS

What are good work habits at your job? Explain any poor work habits you have witnessed at your job. How do poor work habits affect the morale at your job?

PART 2: YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

Create a poster (can be ½ size) that highlights your place of employment and your job. These projects will be displayed on the career-tech hall and will help promote the WBL program to other students. It is very impressive that you manage your time between school and work, so make sure to highlight everything you do!! Materials are available from Mrs. Arledge in room 500 or 410. Please include the following:

·  Take at least one picture of yourself at work (in uniform if applicable)

·  Collect items from work to add to the poster (menu, letterhead, business card, brochure, etc.)

·  Include the name of your place of employment—make it prominent

·  Include information about your job duties, responsibilities, etc.

·  Include other interesting information about you or your job!! (do not include your wages)

·  Make the poster visually appealing—use color, graphics, pictures, etc. Show off what you do!!
