The mission of the USC Judith D. Tamkin International Symposium on Elder Abuse is to create safe and healthy environments for all elders, here and across the world, by bringing together thought leaders, activists, caregivers, researchers, lawmakers, and other stakeholders to share findings, strategize solutions, and help shape and propel the field of elder abuse and justice.

As part of the USC Judith D. Tamkin Symposium on Elder Abuse’s mission, we are pleased to offer travel awards for students through the Tamkin Scholar Award. The goal of this award is to stimulate interest in the elder abuse research and to help students attend the symposium. Two students will be awarded– one international and one domestic. This award will include a stipendof up to $2,500 for the international awardee and up to $1,500 for the domestic awardee (to be used towards hotel accommodations, travel, and registration for the symposium). Awards will be provided to applicants that demonstrate a strong interest in elder abuse research.

Candidates should submit an application, a short essay, and a resume or CV. The essay should be no more than 300 words in length and focus on the candidate’s interest in elder abuse research and reasons for wanting to attend thesymposium.

CRITERIA

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Graduate, Doctoral, or Postdoctoral program.

AWARD

Winners will receive a stipend (up to $1,500 for the domestic awardee and up

to $2,500 for the international awardee) to be used towards hotel

accommodations, travel, and registration for the USC Judith D. Tamkin

Symposium on Elder Abuse on September 15-16, 2016 in Los Angeles, CA.

Winners will also be featured on the event program and website.
