Dear Brother Visitor,
In accordance with the directives of the General Chapter and Circular 470, Towards the Year 2021, the Secretariat of Formation is organizing a CIL session, entitled,
“Lasallian Leadership”
The dates of the session will be: 27 February – 7 April 2017.
The session is intended for Brothers and Partners who have presently, or will soon,have a leadership role in communities and/or ministries.
The Objectives of the program will be to:
- integrate the intra- and inter-personal dynamics that help an individual to improve his/her leadership skills.
- identify a personal approach and practice for leadership and areas of opportunity according to the latest approaches for leadership.
- discern leadership dynamics that are consistent with the Lasallian charism and that fosters it.
- learn from experiences of leadership in multicultural, multi-religious and secularized societies.
- analyze the role of leadership in the challenges the Institute faces globally and locally.
The program will be organized in three modules of two weeks each. A person can follow one, two or three modules according to his/her situation and interest.
Module 1: The leader as a person (27 February – 10 March 2017)
Content: The person of the leader;Leadership and personality; Types and styles of leadership; Leadership and groups; Gender in leadership; Icons for leadership;The link between leadership, ideology and utopia.
Module 2: Approaches on leadership today and Lasallian leadership (13 – 24 March 2017)
Content: Evolution of the thinking on leadership; Transformational leadership; Authentic leadership; Servant leadership;One’s own approach for leadership; De La Salle as leader; Leadership in the history of the Institute; The features of Lasallian leadership; Leadership today in the Institute: communities and mission.
Module 3: Challenges for Lasallian leadership today and in the future: Leadership beyond borders (27 March – 7 April 2017)
Content: Experiences of leadership in multicultural, multi-religious and secularized societies; Leadership and the process of humanization; Challenges in the Institute and the local response; Creative fidelity: the past and looking forward.
This letter is intended to inform you of the program so that you can begin to select prospective participants and plan budgets. We ask if you might indicate an approximate number of people (Lay Partners and Brothers) you think would attend each module.
